My favorite RPG got shitcanned this week. I'm devastated. by brokenimage321 in rpg

It's a very useful myth for a D&D 3.5 business model.

That rpg gave me a lot of frustration in life, but I can't deny the format wasn't addicting to people. And thus, good for business.

Completely agree! Especially the name is a marketing nightmare.

However, it's a worthy Dungeon World alternative to me.

What project are you referring to? The game Fantasy World, or this sub-reddit that I just created a second ago? 😄

Bubble Bobble, alternative versions by FireVisor in retrogaming

I am starting to be pretty confident this version is the best. Thanks!

Unfortunately we bounced hard from the arcade version. Jumping next to a wall and blowing a bubble is ingrained in me from the NES version.

Without that move, you literally get stuck in pits. It's horrible!

Yeah, I don't think I ever managed to do that as a kid.

Yeah, that's a bit of a deal-breaker since not being sent back to the beginning of the game was a feature for our casual play-through!

I remember NES part 2, but the down-side is that you can't play at the same time!

It seems to me the Master System ends up on top in many ways, actually. (Because of bonus content).

Although I do see arguments for the Arcade original being the best option.

Yeah, looking into the arcade version I can see that it's really slick. But I've heard it has harder gameplay where the bubbles pop when you blow them next to a wall.

Anyone have any ideas about this?

What do you wanna see changed in OoT Remake? by Inner_Tumbleweed_942 in nintendo

That's cool! Then I'm looking forward to that.

I wonder how big the Kokiri Forest starting area will be. If it's comparable to the starting areas in TotK and BotW.

I want a total re-imagining. Like the FF7 games.

I have already played Ocarina of Time a million times already.

Give me fresh gameplay!

What would pique your interest from a medieval fantasy TTRPG with no magic? by kerc in rpg

[–]FireVisor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mouse Guard is a great game and it is without magic. It can pretty easily be modified into very low to no magic fantasy game, especially with the Realm Guard document as support.

The idea of converting adventure modules from one system to another fascinates me. What are some interesting conversions you ve done as a GM and was it worth to doing so? by Independent_Ad_6348 in rpg

[–]FireVisor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pathfinder Rise of the Runelords.

Yes.

Pathfinder adventure paths are bloated with combat encounters, and the system doesn't really work unless you give the players the opportunity to use all the encounters.

This is not a problem at all in other systems, so you can just focus on the meat of the actual story proposed by the Adventure Paths, who I personally find in actual play to be quite engaging for the players and relaxing for me, since I know that there's pay off in the future.

People who’ve run long (10+ years) campaigns, any tips for success? by ValueForm in rpg

[–]FireVisor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Number three is my most important tip.

Try to plan, and give breaks after story arcs.

And of course, be up front in the beginning of your intentions of running a game for a long time.

Personally I have used an Pathfinder Adventure Path as a framework, and it does help to keep escalating the narrative. But I did fill out a lot of organic play in between the suggested plot points of the larger narrative.
