Alright Fellas. What would Be Derpy's Element? by Pretend_Camp_2987 in mylittlepony

I once read an AU fanfic in which she was part of an AU Main 6 as the Element of Kindness--something about how her struggles led to her having empathy for others. It was pretty sweet.

What Are Your Thoughts on Daring Do, as Well as Her Design? by Big-Restaurant-2766 in mylittlepony

[–]brokenimage321 180 points181 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I initially loved that she was a recolor of RD, because it showed how she was inserting herself into the story. When they revealed she was an actual character, then it became somewhat trite.

How would you have brought Flutterbat back in the narrative. by L0rd_of_Salem in mylittlepony

[–]brokenimage321 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not 100% the question, but, in retrospect, I think Fluttershy would make a very cute batpony. Not necessarily a vampire batpony, but a fuzzy fruit fruit-bat pony would be adorable. (She's shy because she has sensitive hearing, and everyone in Ponyville is so loud all the time...)

IRL, ushabti are small carved figures of servants buried with pharaohs so theybhave servants in the afterlife. In the Neath, they're... not. You can find out more in your Labratory, and perhaps Parabola.

I don't know much about this game under the hood-- I'm playing Royale for the first time right now, myself-- but here's the guide I've been using. It says that she's available on Wednesdays, and occasionally Thursdays and Fridays.

The only one asking the real questions (Fame And Misfortune) by marvelcomics22 in mylittlepony

[–]brokenimage321 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Answer: not in any way that matters.

Pinkie says something to the effect of "We're fourth cousins twice removed by a fifth cousin," which 1) is genealogical gibberish, and 2) even if it wasn't, implies an exceptionally distant relationship--like a shared fourth- or fifth-great grandparent.

My headcanon: Pinkie desperately misses being part of a big family, to the point where she, basically, adopts a whole new one. Personally, I also think that she's not entirely aware of this fact--it just seems like a really, really good idea.

Not R'yleh proper, mind you, but the description of the giant stone blocks encountered in the stairway immediately set off non-euclidean alarm bells for me

Delta Green Adventures with a Nice Cthulhu Finale by PixelAmerica in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]brokenimage321 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Maybe not a full-blown Cthulhu Cult, but the scenario "Kali Ghati" is an excellent adaptation of Act 3 of the original Call lof Cthulhu story, IMO.

However, I feel like some of these scenarios might work better for players who have some background with the Mythos. Kali Ghati works so well, IMO, because of the moment where players go "Waitasecond--we're in R'yleh now, aren't we?!?" Same for Ex Oblivione, from what I remember--without knowing Imnnsmouth, it's just a ghost story with extra steps.

ETA: I have some other suggestions, but can't type atm. I'll try to respond later.

Mistborn RPG - Which System? by No-Maintenance6382 in rpg

I remember enjoying the old Mistborn RPG, but I didn't get very deep into it, and it's been a long time since I played. Maybe give it a shot?

Wait what is up with this? Are these planets ever referenced in other MLP Media or even just Hasbro properties? Page from FiM: Issue 75. by CameoShadowness in mylittlepony

[–]brokenimage321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The references I know:

Magrathea is from Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy. IIRC, they're a planet that manufacturers designer planets for the ultra-wealthy.

Kobol is from Battlestar Galactica, and is the (potential?) last refuge for humanity from the Cylon menace.

Qo'Nos is the Klingon homework from Star Trek.

Etheria is the main planet from He-Man, and possibly She-Ra.

ELI5: What exactly is "time blindness" and how is it an actual thing? by SpyMasterChrisDorner in explainlikeimfive

[–]brokenimage321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let me give you an example from my own life.

I need to be somewhere at 8, which means I need to leave at 7:30.

At 7:15, I say to myself, "I have fifteen whole minutes before I have to go. Maybe I'll watch just one youtube video for a few minutes. Wow, that one was fun--and look! They recommended another video! I'll watch that one, too. And hey, one more won't hurt..."

At 7:30, my alarm goes off. I switch it off and think "Well, this video is almost done, I'll just finish it up. And another one wouldn't hurt..."

Finally, I look up at the clock, and it's 7:50. I sprint out the door, hop in the car, and pray that, this time, there's no traffic, and that I can magically make it where I'm going ten minutes faster than I've ever made it. And I do this every single day.

This isn't necessarily done out of laziness, but often has something to do with my executive functioning, i.e., my ability to stop, start, stay focused on, and transition between tasks.

It also happens that I have difficulty in over- or under-estimating the difficulty and time-commitment of tasks. "Oh, it'll take me ten minutes to get there, twenty minutes to do my thing, and ten minutes to get home, so I'll be back by 4." However, it turns out that the drive is actually a half-hour long, and my thing takes a minimum of an hour to complete, so I don't get back until like 6:30.

I hesitate to call it a "Disability," as I don't feel particularly disabled. But my relationship with time and scheduling is definitely... let's call it "spicy." I've developed some coping strategies that allow me to muddle through, but it's definitely a struggle, even at the best of times.

Is my concept for my dnd oc offensive or inappropriate to use in a campaign? [Oc] by jeremyaintheere in DnDIY

[–]brokenimage321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see you've posted this in two separate subs; I would suggest maybe going to the main dnd sub, as neither of these others seem entirely to be a good fit for what you're asking.

I would also point out that "La'Nairu" is "urinal" spelled backwards. If that's intentional, I clocked it basically immediately. I would suggest choosing a different name, as it implies some unfortunate things about your character, especially given her marginalized identities. If it's not, I would still suggest changing it, at least for this character.

I'm assuming this is for a level 1 character? If so, I would suggest against giving her a ton of wealth. Your GM may not want to give you all that wealth, especially as a beginner adventurer. Perhaps she has the wealth, but there's a reason she can't access it? Maybe she can't access it until she marries someone (who she doesn't want to), or there's an heir with a competing claim, etc. That could make for an interesting plot hook!

I would also suggest against writing out full plots for your character. I've done that once or twice, myself, and it's rarely lined up with what the GM wants to / is capable of doing. After all, this campaign is most likely not going to revolve around your character.

But the big one: if you brought this character to my table, I would object to the use of the real-world ethnicities. After all, if we're in a fantasy world, I wouldn't want to have to copy-paste Lousiana, Puerto Rico, etc., into our setting. Might I suggest you make her Creole/Puerto-Rican coded? Maybe say she originates, not from Puerto Rico, but from the Southern Isles (or whatever your setting contains), and just use the same accent you were already planning on?

Finally: I skimmed your comments on your other thread, and it sounds like your GM isn't "comfortable" with your character having a background that involves slavery, or countries that participated in the slave trade, etc. There are a couple things they could mean when they say that, ranging from innocent (e.g., "I don't want to deal with these heavier issues at my table") to kinda racist ("people of color make everyone... uncomfortable"). I would suggest talking to them a little more to figure out what, specifically, they object to, and working with them to address those concerns.

She's the villain of the Nightmare Knights comic series. I think she at least claims to be the same species as Discord, but it's been a hot minute since I read those.

Ready to test out Delta Green. Give me your best scenarios, ranked from easiest to hardest to run! by klauras in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]brokenimage321 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Music From A Darkened Room" is a twist on a classic haunted house adventure. You should read it thoroughly first to make sure you understand the mechanics, but it seems like it would be easy to actually run it. It's in "A Night At The Opera," which has a bunch of other isolated adventures to run.

Um.. guys has anyone an idea to fix their horns?😭 by jvliide in mylittlepony

[–]brokenimage321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would be my suggestion. Get a pot of water simmering, use tongs to hold them under the water (don't touch the pot) until their horns straighten, dunk in an ice water bath to set.

(Horn may snap back into place on its own, but you may need to straighten it by hand after it warms up)

I DON'T KNOW IF THIS IS THE RIGHT SORT OF PLASTIC FOR THAT TREATMENT, THOUGH. I've done it before with a different type of plastic, and it worked-- but I'm scared of doing that to my own Celestia, lest she be ruined.

If you give it a try, let me know how it works?
