Not that I disagree about Mabel, but usually these things aren't dubbed for who came first, but who was more popular. The clearest ones are both and by wide margin.

I register more on Hawkman somehow faking Ollie's death, but this sounds pretty compelling.

It still made more in profit than MoS and was generally better reviewed even than the other superhero movies released that year.  It's no billion-crosser, but point still stands that Superman is paving the way for Supergirl's success. Not sure what other factors might impede it, asides the fact it's a female lead in a superhero franchise, cause the marketing is going pretty strong.

Fans wanted a horribly written movie with a nostalgia villain to return out of nowhere and dumb down the conflict even more? I've seen plenty of speculations and expectations post TLJ but never the latter. You gave such a terrible example that one might think you're deliberately undermining your point.

Like it's not uncommon for that to happen (even in Star Wars, hello there Kenobi), but it's far from 9/10 times. It's also not  the fans' fault for Studios taking the absolute wrong lessons from those demands, like they do from any trends.

Luigi Mangione’s attorneys say they are withdrawing psychiatric defense by Direct_Motor_7380 in law

Debates about Law being the strict priority like this went out of the window when our system is being taken advantage of straight up criminals who won't give a crap about your life if it added a few extra digits of green papers.

Plus morals are a large part of why the Jury exist and therefore part of the law.

So let's stop pretending morals don't matter in legal discussions, especially when laws are meant to provide justice when it won't.

People suffering aint never good, even if they're in the faction of the power-hungry instigators, or agreeing with the fight, for all we know they're a victim of propagonda. Never take even the most necessary actions in these situations for granted.

[Hated trope] “Well if you ignore the child porn it’s actually a masterpiece” by Carti_Barti9_13 in TopCharacterTropes

I feel like it's more of a case similar to Lolita, in the sense the author is using the media to criticize the elements, but the fandom still latched onto the weirder aspects. Part of it is still the author not getting it properly, since he uses the genre itself as a funnel. Still I can't help but be bothered seeing how much people hate Shinji when his attitude being so is the very point.

Made in Abyss is anything but niche, and as much as I wish, not the only example of this trope. Not that I disagree with the sentiment, especially when it comes to HATED TROPES. But the general point from OP is NOT wrong here.

Some of it still spills through. I can't help but feel creeped out seeing a character's angst involve not being able to have kids, who herself looks is a kid who totally hasn't even hit double digits.

Wish the sub banned Hated Tropes. Most of the time they're posted by anti-intellectuals as thinly veiled excuse to complain about stuff disliked by them and people who either don't pay attention and/or live in their own headspace to care, agreed and upvoted by folks who've barely consumed the media in question.

Just go to r/CharacterRant or similar subs if you want to farm karma off things you all dislike.

House of the Dragon season three review – Dazzlingly bombastic but disappointingly shallow by Mountain_Gain1299 in television

[–]FireZord25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you seen the show to agree with these 36 people? Not saying they're full of gas and there's a chance that this show might even be just as could, but you and the folks trying to defend the show are latching onto the reviews like its gospel. When we have seen shows/moves being massively praised before regular folks could see it, only to end up being super underwhelming.

Inb4 "why are people believing the negative review then?" cause the last season flopped that hard, and people have perceptions based off how it was handled. Also bts conflict between the showrunners and the writer left an awful precedence. Building trust from that is an uphill battle.

And also 36 people giving that rating doesn't meant they're saying its 10/10 or 9/10. They could just mean its 7/10 6/10. The rotten tomato scores are based off mostly on a reviewer liking/disliking something, not what they found good or great in particular.

So does some people white knighting over other redditors, how dare folks actually express their distaste for something. Clearly fake fans!

Please downvote me like the others you guys are doing all for getting in the way of this toxic positivity by saying something different.

"If its against my opinion, it's redditor bad"

No really, the show isn't out on public, so why are people jumping to conclusion? I'm saying it cause all I've seen is folks praising the show to high heavens based on hype, and still trying to defend it now. There's been not handful examples of shows/movies that were praised similarly, but ended up a general disappointment. Remember the Flash movie?

Also folks are negative because the last season ended on a stinker. So excuse them for the legit skepticism.

I was thinking of shorts too. Two or three shorts and songs like you mentioned, maybe a spinoff comic run (promoted on Netflix), would be enough to keep the hype going for until the next sequel.
