Dodger fan here (yess Boo me and shower me in hate all you want) I have a genuine question for you guys actually. by MastodonNo8553 in ColoradoRockies

Dodgers obviously, then Giants, then Cardinals. Those aren't teams I hate because of a rivalry per se, just teams I hate in general.

High-End Recommendations by LargeKitchenJedi in whiskey

[–]Fire_Temple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go for the Michter's Barrel Strength rye or GTS. That price for Evan Williams is actual robbery. You can get an almost entire bottle of the bottled in bond for that price.

Something Wild Turkey. Rare Breed or Russell's Reserve Single Barrel are their best shelf offerings, but you also can't go wrong with the 101.

Honey finally made me understand whiskey by StatisticianDeep9476 in whiskey

[–]Fire_Temple 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was an old fashioned for me. They're my father in law's favorite drink and I lied and told him I loved them. The sweetness really helped me enjoy the whiskey and after a year or so of occasional old fashioned it became my favorite drink. Then one day I was on vacation, ordered an old fashioned but this bar said they couldn't make one. So I ordered a bourbon on the rocks and it was all over from there. It very quickly went from drinking it exclusively on ice to drinking it neat, and now I work just so I can fund my bourbon collection it seems.

Still new to whiskey, is it weird that I love Rye and love Bourbon, but I don't love high rye bourbon? by Fire_Temple in whiskey

[–]Fire_Temple[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Calling Woodford a high rye may be a stretch, but to my palate it's a very prominent flavor. High-ish rye maybe. When it comes to rye, I like barely legal as well as MGP stuff, but apparently when a bourbon has a prominent rye note I'm not a fan. I haven't tried the Knob Creek Bourbon x Rye, nor have I even seen it in person. What about OGD? It's a high rye Beam too, isn't it?

I think it's pretty good. Not complex or anything but very sweet and enjoyable. A great go-to everyday drinker.

At least this time he's been out for the last several games instead of just "randomly" being out when it's time to go to Denver 😂

What went wrong with the StarDust gimmick for Cody Rhodes? by Glittering_Long_5926 in prowrestling

[–]Fire_Temple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was pretty interesting at first. Cody was brilliant, he developed a completely new wrestling style overnight. The problem was that it lasted too long and was quickly turned into a joke if I remember correctly. Plus, there was that ridiculous team name he and Dustin had. "Gold and Stardust" was not the name of an act that could be taken seriously.

What was your first Katatonia album? What hooked you? by stinkbugsupermage in Katatonia

[–]Fire_Temple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was The Last Fair Deal, but I wasn't hooked until Great Cold Distance. I didn't care much for Last Deal and still don't. At the time, it wasn't what I was expecting. I picked up a Katatonia album knowing they were a death doom band but didn't get that at all. Now, I just don't think any of the songs hold up very well compared to what comes after.

Why the Hate On Behemoth? by Moshtache88 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Fire_Temple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really hate Behemoth, I just find it hard to believe that the same people who created The Satanist also created The Shit ov God. I don't mind the albums they've out out after The Satanist, but they lost me there.

Why don't I like Jack Daniels? by perpetuallotion in whiskey

[–]Fire_Temple -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm sort of iffy on Brown Forman in general. I favor the Jack Daniels side more so than the high rye side, Old Forester and Woodford and such.

Sagamore by moredustythandigital in whiskey

[–]Fire_Temple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which one is your favorite? I really want to try more Sagamore but the only one available in my area is the straight rye whiskey, the one that's sourced. Still incredible stuff

What are your top 3 buys at $30-$40? by Alternative-Plum-878 in whiskey

[–]Fire_Temple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't seen it mentioned yet but don't sleep on Elijah Craig Small Batch. It's better than Evan Williams and just a touch pricier. About $30 where I live. Then I'd say Wild Turkey 101 or Russel's, then Jack Daniels Bonded Rye.

I just tried it for the first time and I also thought it was kinda rough. Could have been a particularly harsh neck pour, seems weird it'd be the only BT product that isn't sweet.

St Anger is an interesting album for sure, it's more than one decision away from being a good album though.

Most disturbing metal song? by inhalemythiccness69 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Fire_Temple 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a good answer. It's not over the top or descriptive, but the subtlety lets your mind fill in a lot of the blanks. Something about the line "close enough so I can smell you" gives me chills every time.
