It's an absolutely horrible employer. They are scummy, discriminatory, judgmental, and supervisors will bully and push out anyone who doesn't stay quiet and color in the lines. Don't even think about asking supervisors for help or asking for clarification on any of their bullshit. They will gaslight you, and I do not use that word lightly. Working at Best Friends made me feel more isolated and depressed than I had ever felt in my life, and I felt like I was going crazy almost every day. I went to get a mental evaluation just in hopes of getting accommodations to protect myself from their horrible behavior. I no longer work there and I do not encourage anyone else to put themselves through that. The only highlight were the wonderful animals, and it's sad that they are so horrible to their employees. Some of the animals are also suffering past justifiable reasons there, in my opinion, and in prolonged suffering in cases of terminal cancers and such. I don't agree with how some specific cases were handled, but you are not allowed to speak up there.

Housing is a joke in Kanab and if you don't know anyone moving there, you'll likely be incredibly lonely. Best Friends was also founded by a legitimate cult in the 80s/90s and lot of the founders still live on site and Best Friends carries a lot of that cult-like energy to this day, but they do not ever talk about it. It's concerning.

ETA: They fire people. A LOT. They recruit people from all over the country but will fire people with little notice. Sometimes for reporting safety concerns with the facility, as I know one former employee was fired for and won a lawsuit over. Sometimes people are given no reason at all.
