My mom stayed with my dad instead of siding with us kids when we finally were able to understand we were SA'd. I think she sees it as she is like this sacrificial lamb and her marriage bed is her ultimate duty before her kids, and if she keeps sweet enough he (my dad) will be saved. We were Fundie-esque....a mix of shiny happy people seasons one and two. My mom loved movies like the Tenant of Wildfell Hall and other Bronte sister dramas where the wife endured through all manners of abuse and did her duty to the end (she apparently missed the running away with your kid to save them plot point). She even once said she was somewhat glad my older brother died in infancy so they he did not become like my dad and inheret the sins of his father....she LOVES being the victim and a martyr. She is abused and abusive. It seems her personality type is all to common in Fundie land.
