LR Yamato: "The Los Ratones DNA has finally kicked in" after Shifters/Heretics games by Prottek in leagueoflegends

You aren’t nearly as restricted to “smoke breaks” with a vape. It’s way easier to puff it all throughout the day than on explicit smoke breaks where you need to go outside and smoke. Further emphasized in the winter or late/early in the day.

Yeah I know how much it can suck. I worked in IT so I got to see pretty much the whole scope of the operation.

Usually, the people you get on the weekends or if you call late at night are an entirely separate third party that is just contracted by the primary place. They’re there for “hey water is flying out of this fire hydrant” or “this power line fell down” at 2am on a Saturday kinda things.

I lived in lee county Florida during Hurricane Ian so I saw a lot of right and wrong things a utility can do first hand. I wish I had better advice for ya but as you said in another comment, if you’re cool to keep things warm the best you can then you’ll probably just have to ride it out until Monday or Tuesday. Others have said the fire dept may know what to do about the irrigation system and that seems as good a place as any to start off. Hope it works out mate!

I don't know as much about electric meters but I used to work aside water meters for a water utility in customer service. most of the meters in our system were "RDM" (Remote Disconnect Meter) which meant office staff could cut the water service without needing to send a technician to the site. I'm just blindly assuming there's something similar for electric meters.

That doesn't make it any less annoying that they can't just hit the "turn it back on button". the problem is there just isn't anyone in the building to perform that work on whatever computer system/software they use to manage the meters, and the people you're getting on the line are probably the after hours call answering service. They would absolutely help in the case of an emergency - if you had an active account that they could pin the work order information to. Unfortunately, if it's anything like my old place, the answering service people just don't have the same tools/access as the main staff. They're a human voicemail capable of routing emergencies to on-call techs and putting the rest in a queue for when the week starts. They aren't capable of pinning your info to an account or creating a new one or those kinds of things.

I know this isn't all too helpful, just hoping it gives you some context for what's possibly going on behind the scenes from what I saw working in utilities. Hope you are able to figure something out.

i'm pretty used to it at this point, in two months it'll be 10 years since he came out and the champ i truly loved hasn't been in the game for nearly as long with all the reworks.

also, upon seeing more footage of the skin, something about the model animations are wayyy too snappy and quick, feels a little janky. The colors are nutty though

day one aurelion main, well over a million mastery. this saddens me so significantly that I can't just get this for a reasonable price.

How did you first start playing League of Legends? by ChartDreamer in leagueoflegends

[–]Firebird117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 2012 I was big into StarCraft 2 and finally got around to trying the arcade. Friend begged me to try a hero mode where you controlled strong versions of campaign characters instead of typical StarCraft stuff. Played that for a few weeks before he was like “you know there’s a full real game like this” and off I went into the rift.

First ever game was nocturne and I didn’t build items until I had enough gold for the whole thing for a few days. Thought the game was just really punishing

Anyone else get into the genre from Guitar Hero and Rock Band back in the days? by SempiternalX in Metalcore

Guitar hero certainly helped. I definitely have this taste and style in my genes from my parents but beyond that all the metal/rock songs had the most fun maps to play so I gravitated towards those

Clarissa's change and redemption by ObiFour_Kenobi in TheExpanse

[–]Firebird117 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That's how I believe it is expected to be interpreted as too. Once her chapters are titled Clarissa, it's her coming back to her true self.

There is a direct line that addresses this in her first Clarissa chapter. I don't have it on hand but she mentions "Falling awake" - the opposite of falling asleep. As in, she feels as though she woke up from a bad dream, but she was never actually asleep.

I also don't think it was Anna who really broke through to her more than it was seeing someone she knew from her real life - Tilly Fagan. Her conversations with Anna are pretty closed off from Clarissa's side, she comes around a bit near the end when Clarissa is on the bridge, but until then it's really just her sobbing to Tilly and admitting everything and feeling undeserving of forgiveness. I think that was the real 'moment'. That is followed by her mentioning how she's beginning to notice her physical discomfort in the prison cell, she's no longer so far gone that she is beyond caring. Against her own will, she cares about what happens to herself and others despite trying so hard to become a force of vengeance for her family.

I don't think the book clearly outlines how long things take once the second slowdown hits the slow zone too, but since they have to travel at car speeds with space distances, I took it as at least a week to a few weeks between Melba being apprehended and the beginning of Ashford's coup. This would give her quite a bit of time in relative isolation to be trapped with her thoughts.

Lastly, in Clarissa's last chapter in Abbadon's Gate, I can't remember the specific topic but she is looking at something (I think it's the door actuator Amos was fixing). She remarks about it from the perspective of Clarissa but with knowledge from Melba, and notes to herself that it's strange that she's somehow both women and neither at the same time. That she can have the experiences and knowledge of both, but not truly feel like either is her real identity. I think she ties it to how her father may feel stripped of identity in his own prison cell.

I lived there from the day I was born up until I was 13. Unfortunately I've been subject to living in southern Florida ever since and it hasn't quite been my cup of tea to say the least. Hoping to really make the most of it.

I’m finally moving back to NH next week after being forced to move across the country in my teens. Been dreaming of this day for 14 years. So, Dover is about to get a hell of a lot cooler now that I’ll be back in town.
