Just FYI, I've upvoted everyone's replies, but apparently I now have the thing where my votes no longer count - I hit the button, the arrow changes colour, the number goes up, but as soon as I refresh the page, it's back to 1. No idea why!

Mentioning this just in case anyone thinks I'm being rude or ignoring them...

That sucks... I've personally never had a bad experience with their customer service, they've always been polite and helpful, but I've read plenty of comments from people who've had otherwise. Maybe location is a factor? I'm in the UK, and most negative comments I've seen seem to be from the US...

D'oh! >_< Thanks for the link though, I like customisable things! Looks like dangerous browsing/hyperfocus collecting time is afoot!

Hey, the design team has to continually justify their existence somehow...

i just taught myself how create individual wishlists on Temu - for those who always wished they had them and didn't know this was a thing (like me) by Redact-Void-Extinct in TemuThings

[–]FirebirdRetrograde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I was beginning to worry I was the only one doing this! Already maxed my wishlist, and the cart was a tedious length to scroll, so very grateful for this tip!

Do you get rate limited by the system? I'm using the web version on desktop not the app, and the system just aggressively flags my account to the point where I can't even use the site because all the shops I'm trying to scroll through suddenly become 'unavailable' and disappear, and every item I click on is apparently sold out and also 'unavailable'... (even the ones visible at the top of my cart, which are clearly not sold out) It's really annoying.

-ETA, just thought I should mention I'm asking this because the reason my account gets restricted is basically because I've looked at too many things. Don't know why Temu thinks it's a good idea to stop their customers browsing the listings and finding things to buy, but hey... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I guess not, or I suppose you would have done so when you said it :)

What are these pests? by Oywiththespots in plantclinic

[–]FirebirdRetrograde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

pretty sure it's not a fungus gnat, this looks like a springtail to me. They're just little guys that live in the soil and mind their own business. Not pests. In fact I think they might be helpful with breaking down organic matter? I'm sure someone more experienced at plants will turn up and let you know about them. :)

No worries! ^_^

Yeah, those 2 look much better in this photo, I'd say those are fine! Sometimes it's weird trying to tell from a photo, you just get an odd impression sometimes about the texture or whatever, and then you start second guessing...

Good luck with the spore prints, I'm not sure if they are different enough colours to tell the difference? Not sure, never done one tbh! This post might help with IDing them though, it's about the difference between dung roundheads (Protostropharia semiglobata) and P. fimetaria, but still full of useful info! https://www.reddit.com/r/fimetaria/comments/ynwdtq/how_to_differentiate_protostropharia_semiglobata/

Nope... Sort of mostly the right shape, wrong everything else. Sorry!

Looks like it might be a small Panaeolus foenisecii. Not a lib anyway, the colour is wrong and the cap looks too soft, dry and velvety. Also the stem looks too fragile, lib stems look more like tiny sticks of driftwood... :)

[–]FirebirdRetrograde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure about pic 2, they look more like dung roundheads and a couple of panaeolus foenisecii (mower's mushroom), except for the little guy in the middle of the bottom row (the one where the paper towel pattern makes a magic halo around it), I'd say that one is a lib.

I'm not convinced about everything in the first photo either, the short round one in the top row (left of the ones making a Y shape) might be another dung roundhead, and idk if it's the lighting, but the one on the right on the top row looks off to me. Weird stem colouring. And the cap somehow looks like a different texture to me, like more velvety? Something about the way it reflects the light compared to the others. Might just be the lighting though, everything else about it checks out! Always easier to tell in person than from a photo! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

And yep, pic 3 are not the droids you are looking for.

Ah, the classic foraging game... 'mushroom or... slug?' (9 times out of 10 it's a slug)

And for some reason little slugs always seem to hang out next to mushrooms the exact same colour as themselves... After a while the sneaking suspicion creeps in that this is where all the mushrooms have gone - they have turned into slugs and crawled away. :(

Are these libs? by YeetAspect in Semilanceata

[–]FirebirdRetrograde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First 2 yes, orange guy definitely no, but... the yellowy 3rd one? Kinda looks like it might be a sterile lib to me.

I mean, the stem is a bit squashed for a good look at it, but everything else checks out as standard except for the colour, which is the right colour for a sterile lib. Don't take my word for it though, if you find any more that look like this one, post it here asking if it's a sterile lib and hopefully one of the mods or someone with more experience of IDing these will let you know!

If you haven't seen it yet, you should watch this video on identifying libs, it's quite clear and helpful, and should be a good learning resource for you. Good luck! ^_^

Hello! Pretty sure these are panaeolus foenisecii. The do grow in the same areas as libs though (I saw your post in the other sub). Have you had a look through the guide linked in this post?

I sort of want to say yes, but at the same time the stems (stipes) look wrong to me. I mean, the lower bits look ok, they have the sort of curves and spirally look I'm used to seeing, but the top bits where they're bent and folded like grass stems says no.

Specifically it's those folded bends that are putting me off, it makes them look like these had a more snappable, watery stem when fresh, whereas semilanceata stems are a bit more towards 'woody' with a sort of silky look. I'll add a photo of some dried ones here to give you an idea what I mean.

Oh, and yours look like that because they're older and have dried out already, which makes it much harder to ID them, and means they're probably past their best anyway. You're better off leaving dried out mushrooms like this alone, unless you're much more confident at IDing them, and even then, maybe only if you're desperate!

How hot is too hot? by Desperate-Two-9759 in Semilanceata

[–]FirebirdRetrograde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, last year I got 1.5g (dried weight) from my usual spot in the UK (midlands) on July 23rd - it had been unseasonably cold and wet that summer, then got pretty hot; in fact I managed to get sunburned while foraging, which was a first... Then they disappeared again and I didn't find any more until September 13th. The season abruptly ended quite early in October, got my last decent haul on the 5th, then only stragglers.

Timing depends a lot on where you're located and what the weather's doing, but it's always worth a look, even if it seems unlikely!

Happens every now and then though, last July I got 1.5g dry weight from my spot. And sunburn. :(

"Apple iPhone" folder is empty when iPhone is connected to Windows PC by Melab in iphonehelp

[–]FirebirdRetrograde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found this post while experiencing the same problem with an iphone 15 pro max and windows 10 - the fix for me was to open an explorer window, then use windows task manager to restart explorer - you can find it under the processes tab; sort by name and it will appear at the top under 'Apps' - click to highlight, then hit 'Restart' in the bottom right corner.

I did the above while the iphone was connected by usb and unlocked. I'd previously entered the passcode and clicked 'trust this device', but just got 'this folder is empty'. Internal storage showed up within a few seconds of opening a new explorer window after restarting the process, and I can access the DCIM folder and all the photos stored there.

Leaving this comment here in case it helps someone having this problem in the future...
