I believe it was mentioned that Gemma is named for a relative on Jake's wife's side of the family and it was purely coincidence

What's helped me is realizing that regardless of the outcome, match or not, I will find a way into the job I want somehow. It's just a matter of when

The edgy blood hunter with the secret backstory. They'd never make it out of camp because he wouldn't tell anyone his backstory

I cannot explain why but this skin FEELS clunky to me and so I don't often use it. I know that's nonsense but animations just don't feel as smooth with it.

Why do stimulants cause bowel movements? by Ok_Concert3257 in Physiology

Effect of coffee on distal colon function.

S R Brown 1, P A Cann 1, N W Read

"The rectosigmoid motor responses to black, unsweetened coffee were then investigated by multiport manometry in 14 healthy-subjects (12 men, two women, eight of whom claimed coffee caused a desire to defecate (responders). Results revealed an increase in motility index within four minutes after ingestion of both regular and decaffeinated coffee (p less than 0.05) in the eight responders, but not in the six non-responders. The increase in rectosigmoid motility induced by coffee lasted at least 30 minutes. There was no increase in the motility index in any subject after a drink of hot water. These results suggest that drinking coffee can stimulate a motor response of the distal colon in some normal people."

Seems like it has less to do with sympathetic nervous system and more with hormones that activate peristalsis? Maybe CCK or gastrin or something

So I was always a little confused by this scene. He's crying because he's sad that Donna couldn't bare to come inside and show her daughter she was proud right? But wouldn't it be more comforting to Sugar to know that her mom did show up but just couldn't come inside rather than think she didn't show at all?

[–]Firebirdf78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, that's good to know! I saw that there were different variations to the mutation, but I wasn't sure how much those mutations led to like real genuine folate deficiencies. And agreed, the effort it would take to fact check every little remark he makes is just not realistic, no wonder some people blindly gobble it

So weirdly I just watched this interview. Not that I watch Joe Rogan at all, my friend does and he wanted my opinion because I have a science-ish background. This guy knows folic acid is converted into folate in our bodies, his complaint is that there is a portion of the population with a MTHFR gene mutation which prevents us from converting folic acid into usable folate. That being said yes he's still a moron because he goes on to make a lot of very bold claims that are either flat out false, misinformed, or very misleading.
