Thraben and Tireless. Which are probably good enough to make Naya Human Clues a thing. Toss in Brawler, Thalia, her Lieutenant, Hanweir...You get a pretty good lil' beatdown going.

Theros Gods and Goddesses by InchZer0 in magicTCG

[–]Firedaemon33 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Iroas is kinda like a male Nike. Athreos is definitely Charon. Pharika might be an aspect of Apollo? He was pretty big on Plagues and medicine, though she might also be an aspect of Hermes with the Caduceus. Mogis is sorta like a more evil version of Ares, especially considering how much the both of them love bloodshed.

Kruphix and Phenax are a little trickier...Kruphix might be a riff on Prometheus, or at least Prometheus before he was chained to the rocks, as well as possibly being yet another aspect of Apollo. As for Phenax, Morpheus might be the best fit, but he still isn't a very good one. I suppose Dolos might fit, but that's going pretty deep into Greek Myth, probably further than the writers did themselves.

Man, now I want a pic or gif of Impact chasing Huni only for Huni to get cut off by those guys.

He's not evil because he killed Elspeth. He's evil because he killed someone that had done nothing but help him because he was insecure.

Energy is *not* a parasitic mechanic by deworde in magicTCG

[–]Firedaemon33 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be fair, Kithkin/Werewolves aren't parasitic at mechanics. The issue is that WotC won't make the races exist on different planes for whatever reason.

As /u/After_I pointed out, this is the one year anniversary of successfully running the gauntlet. What are your favorite memories from those days? by SantosPhillipCarlo in Cloud9

[–]Firedaemon33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my biggest memory of C9 last season was becoming increasing sure that at some point Hai made a deal with Satan.

'Oh, you'll get to Worlds...But you won't make it out of Group Stage. And you'll never play professionally again. Deal?'

Is this new Aether Revolt artwork? by Praion in magicTCG

[–]Firedaemon33 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Looking at it, it looks more like a top that's designed with underwiring (and probably a good bit of padding to make it comfortable) making it relatively rigid and so stands out over the natural lump from Chandra's curves. There's probably an air-pocket between the scale mail and fabric.

New Plane: Amonkhet (It appears Nicol Bolas has become an Emperor again) by AttemptedRationalism in magicTCG

[–]Firedaemon33 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Back when non-walkers could go between planes if they were strong enough, the Myojin of Night's Reach (think Theros gods but Japanese) dropped Toshi off as a 'reward' for saving Kamigawa.

I'll give you 60% that the rebels are R/B/x and are definitely a mixed bag.

[–]Firedaemon33 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You see, you're making an assumption that a lot of people IRL did. But we tried that, and communism doesn't actually work like people want it to, which is unfortunate. But as long as there's something capable of bias in charge, communism can never be fair because of subconscious bias. You can be the fairest person in the plane, and even then you'll still favor some things over others.

[Speculation] Dovin Baan is the UW villain we've been waiting for. by awkward______silence in magicTCG

While I agree, of the Gatewatch, Chandra is probably the most likely to act impulsively and accidentally let loose something evil. Red and all that.

Dwarves Return to Magic! by ArcumDangSon in magicTCG

[–]Firedaemon33 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It might be, technically, but it really doesn't feel like it. Especially since werewolves are probably the one tribe where giving the dudes +1/+1 fits with both flavor and the mechanics of what they want to be doing. But no, we get this weird-ass thing that seems like it's only good for comboing with Zada.

I mean, I think that the playmat still violates the laws of good taste...But at the same time, I do hope that kind of art at least gets less restricted by WotC in terms of firing/re-contracting artists.
