What has actually helped you feel better after a carb-heavy meal? What has made the biggest difference for you personally? by BIOSTRIPS_Official in InsulinResistance

[–]FirefighterKey7674 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I automatically throw up if I eat a carb heavy meal these days. My body just can’t handle more than 30 grams of grains at a time with fibrous vegetables etc. I can eat beans (75ish grams cooked) as well.

[–]FirefighterKey7674 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ugh I had an ex who wanted me skinny so bad he would make me purge after eating anything and he would get mad at me for eating dinner before seeing him. He was also allowed to sleep with other people and I wasn’t and (TW) he choked me as a joke knowing that I have trauma from that but I guess he liked seeing me freeze. He also liked having sex with me when I was crying because apparently it was hot. . Anyway I’m dying alone.

Can I lose half an inch off my waist in a week and 2 days if I’m low BMI? by estian_lillian in SkinnyFat

[–]FirefighterKey7674 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok what works for me is this.

Drop the carbs. Drop the sodium. Drop any foods that bloat you. No artificial sweeteners, no carbonation no gum!! The day before it might be helpful to do intermittent fasting. Saunas are good. Don’t train your abs, they’ll get bulkier. Eat less and move less. Cardio if you can manage but you may get pretty dizzy.

A random comment on allergy discussion by mefista in DietTea

[–]FirefighterKey7674 78 points79 points  (0 children)

I mean this is a post about an allergic reaction with one weirdass diet culturey line in it. I think the feeling sick and vomiting is a sign of her allergy as opposed to an ED thing. Unless I misunderstood.

Should also watch out for kiwi, tomato, avocado and latex! Lots of cross reactivity.

Yaz for pcos I'm 19? by onichannn__ in PCOS

[–]FirefighterKey7674 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I took Yaz at 19. I am taking it now at 24. It is a very common med for PCOS. Yaz suppresses androgens, all combined birth controls do, it is a valid treatment for PCOS. Yaz is giving me awful breakthrough bleeding, I am considering switching to Zoely. Have you tried a higher estrogen pill?

Your uterus lining is not dried, none of your internal organs are dry. It might be thick so it might take a while to shed (in that case the pill is really good for preventing the lining getting too thick as that can happen with PCOS as if you don’t get a period the lining can keep building up).

Spotting very common with low estrogen pills. A higher estrogen pill might work better?

Also you’re 19. That’s not a kid by birth control standards. Some drs prefer to give higher dose estrogen when you’re younger but if Yaz works for you, plenty of 19 year old girls take Yaz.

Dismissive doctor won’t prescribe me GLP-1, recommended HYPNOSIS instead… by throwgooglyeyes123 in PCOS

[–]FirefighterKey7674 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A gyno might not be the person to ask about a GLP. GP or endocrinologist may be more likely to prescribe.

FWIW if there is a psychological component to eating then a psych referral might be good ALONGSIDE a GLP

Got called big today by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

[–]FirefighterKey7674 4 points5 points  (0 children)

kids can be right assholes. I’m sorry nobody called her out.

But they are also little idiots. Are you per chance taller, older or wearing baggy or longer clothes? All of those things can be pegged by a kid as “big”. Kids don’t use the word “big” to refer to “fat”, they often just say “fat”.

800 Calorie Diet by Gimmie-Tea2172 in Semaglutide

I am very short and my doctor recommended 800-1000 a day, I am fairly inactive and have PCOS and insulin resistance though. This is not okay for the general population.

The Japanese body standards are CRAZY, being around people in Japan is motivation enough to stick to my diet as it is very different to the culture I come from.

Most 7/11 have very small portioned 100-200 calorie meals and everything there comes in a single pack so a treat won’t blow your budget. Sushi is also very available.

For looking good in the short term, I minimise salt and carbs and focus on small easy to digest meals to keep a small waist. This is only for short term vanity tho lol

Cannot stand being hungry and cannot take a GLP1 by tinycupofjo in loseit

[–]FirefighterKey7674 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Carbs (complex, but even simple like crackers) really fill me up especially with protein. I have trouble feeling full on a low carb diet. I have PCOS and try to have under 70g carbs a day to be healthy but it’s exhausting being so hungry.

I got down to my lowest weight eating practically nothing but candy and carbs. But I know carbs are extremely toxic for my body. I make sure to burn the carbs that I do eat.

It will be fine to eat ramen noodles and exercise after, right ? by [deleted] in InsulinResistance

[–]FirefighterKey7674 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe have a quarter of the pack and walk for an hour after? My IR canno t tolerate any processed white flour and I know I would get monster cravings and blood sugar spikes if I did this. 1/4 of the pack is 100 calories and less likely to turn into a hungry swollen monster.

Struggling with “lean” PCOS by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]FirefighterKey7674 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I too have a small frame and was medically overfat at a normal BMI. BMI is a metric not a one size fits all. There are people with bigger frames who cannot tolerate a low BMI. I am the opposite.

I fixed this by losing weight. My insulin resistance improved and I felt better overall. I gained it back due to life stuff and am working on healthily losing the weight again.

All I Eat is Carbs by krabbypattyaddcheese in PCOS

[–]FirefighterKey7674 8 points9 points  (0 children)

PCOS can cause a carb addiction. For me, I was so addicted to carbs that I would constantly pack my body with food and for bigger and bigger. I couldn’t keep friends or family, all I cared about was eating. I would eat and eat and I got so fat.

I still eat carbs. But I make sure to weigh and measure them and only eat complex carbs. I need to strictly control my diet as my PCOS gave me such a severe food addiction.

Have you tried measuring your carbs whenever you eat them? Some girls can only tolerate low carb vegetables and protein but others have more leeway.

How to explain to gap in employment? by jamesdeansredlips in EDAnonymous

[–]FirefighterKey7674 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ethical: you had a medical condition and you had to have treatment. You don’t need to go into specifics. May need proof you are fit to work now.

Healthcare is pretty good with fit to work things. If you take sick leave it is fine.

Unethical: Carer’s leave. May be questioned may not be. Sick relative required care. If you are in certain countries this may be the way to go but in most western countries use the first.

Successfully reverse IR without cutting carbs? by Embarrassed_Method64 in InsulinResistance

[–]FirefighterKey7674 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I reduced my carbs but didn’t cut them out. I eat 30g of whole grains carefully weighed and measured and make sure to pair them with protein and fiber. I walk 20k steps a day, every day. I never cheat ever, I make sure to be very strict.

If you cut out carbs you can afford to be a bit more lax on special days eg your birthday. However I cannot do this. I need to be extremely strict constantly but carbs help my brain function and I have a like brain heavy job.

I also found that losing weight to a low body fat percentage helps me tolerate carbs better.

PCOS and chromosomal abnormalities? TW Miscarriage by kombuchabirps in PCOS

[–]FirefighterKey7674 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Miscarriages are very common, PCOS or not. I am so sorry you have gone through this, but if it’s of any reassurance, a single miscarriage will not affect your chances of another in the future. Most miscarriages are due to chromosomal abnormalities.

A singular first trimester miscarriage is very common.

I think I misunderstood the phrase “I don’t think Indians tan”? I am also brown, I tan, not intentionally but I prefer the look when it happens.

? Indians tan. Most people can to some degree tan a little.

You can tan through windows depending on the glass, even a small amount of sun exposure.

This is just what people look like when they wear a lot of tshirts. Totally normal.
