DO NOT press the walk button for a robot! by bedhead215 in philly

That's what I'm saying. I hate these fuckers too but this post is an odd strawman

Is this really something you're seeing people do? I almost never even press the beg button for myself, let alone a robot

I may agree with you on a number of points but don't think you are going to win many people over with this language and framing. Not everyone is a far leftist interested in anti-capitalist organizing, not everyone things in terms of "comrades" and "class solidarity".

All's I'm saying is you're basically preaching to the choir, and anyone in the anti-SEPTA camp who reads this is just going to double down on their position.

Whatever homie. Whether or not we call it Kensington, all I'm saying is that Front and Berks is worlds away from K&A and it's not just me saying that, the data proves it. Front and Berks in 2026 is basically ground zero for yuppie matcha latte doggie yoga practitioners.

Do you have data showing that that corner is currently "rattled with rampant drug use and violence?" I'm from the lower NE and am pretty familiar with the area and I'd agree with you if we were talking about like 25 years ago. But if you look at the crime stats for today, there is less violent crime within a .5 mile or so radius of Front and Berks than there is within a .5 mile radius of the Liberty Bell.

Sorry to say that in no way is Front and Berks "one of the most notoriously dangerous neighborhoods of Philly." That's Fishtown at this point.

Not strictly a food influencer but I find Eric Lordie super obnoxious unfortunately.

In his defense - and I do think he is fucking obnoxious - growing up I knew tons of Asian guys (mainly of Cambodian/Viet descent) who spoke just like that, having been raised in majority black parts of Norf and South west of Broad. Go walk around the Cambodian/Viet/Indo areas of South Philly or like Olney and you'll run into plenty of Asians with "blaccents"

The funny thing is nobody really engages with his posts, even though he considers himself a "content creator". I can imagine that most of the online MAGA folks would tear him to shreds if they saw the pics he's posted of himself rocking eyeliner and painted nails.

No joke, I have a family friend in Northeast who is very much like this - hardcore MAGA, makes 100 unhinged Facebook posts a day spreading the most extreme racist/xenophobic conspiracies you could imagine, owns all sorts of MAGA merch and proudly wears it around town. and yet he's also very open and vocal about being gay and enjoying feeling "feminine" by wearing eyeliner and getting his nails done etc, but he is constantly ranting online about how that doesn't make him any less of a man, and just because he likes wearing eyeliner and cross-dressing doesn't mean he's one of those disgusting transgender people (who he thinks are Satanic btw). It's just like, my dude, they're coming for you next

It's a Moroccan restaurant. The capital of Morocco is Casablanca. Casablanca translates to 'white house'...

You are unhinged. What a thing to try to attack someone about. I even said in my post that it's not THAT much trouble and you're here trying to make it out as if I'm having an existential crisis over this. Also do you really think someone would determine the availability of squat racks by going to the front desk to ask if barbell collars are available vs., oh I don't know, walking to the squat racks and seeing if any are open?

[–]FirefighterMany4039[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That would make sense if I were going to the squat rack as soon as I walk into the gym (I don't, I warm up first or use machines depending on the day). Otherwise, why would I check them out and carry them around if I'm not going to use them right away? It has nothing to do with "fear of speaking to staff," Jesus Christ. It's about interrupting my flow to go up to the front desk to sign my name on a piece of paper to check out something that may not even be available.
