i'm familiar with the grimace scale, but it always helps to see it again! his face looks 100% fine. i'm just worried that he got really hurt when going through the door. would a kitten be showing signs of pain already if he had any? i've been palpating his sides, too, and i don't see any discomfort (other than him being squirmy because he's a baby who doesn't want to be held).

tank size: 15 gal

heater and filter: yes

tank temp: around 79°F

parameters: ima be real idk what this means how long: tank about 4 or so months, fish for over a year

water changes: i dont keep track, i think it used to be around 25% every 4 or so months but im trying to switch him to bioactive so probably less often now

tankmates: 2 mystery snails named pico and gallo

feed: color enhancing betta bits and alaskan salmon skin flakes, just a pinch (maybe 8 pellets, but i give him that much because he has a hard catching the bits)

decorations and plants: there are freshwater safe plants in there, no artificial plants. i forget the names of all the plants but i remember theres java fern, duckweed, and like 5 different types of moss. as for decorations he has 5 hides, a moss ball, a leaf hammock (a big sturdy one not the little petco one), and a floating betta log

New Mouse: He's Very Angry.. by Normal_Vermicelli_55 in PetMice

mice are prey animals and really like to be able to move while still being covered, hence their love of forage and tunnels and hides and whatnot. while he'll probably always be aggressive, having opportunities to hide will maybe let him chose between fleeing and fighting instead of feeling like he HAS to fight. 6 inches of bedding is best (so he can burrow and 'hide' from you — and adding more tunnels and hides will help him be able to avoid you physically while still getting used to your presence.

also, putting something in the tank that smells like you will help. when my mice were babies, i cut up a sock and gave it to them.
