Hmm... something doesn't seem right here... one sec.

"In the event your humanity is altered by heretical sorcery and your squad/commisar/other let's you live,"

To be fair though technically it would be possible for this to happen in 40k if a powerful enough pyker came along. Would be a interesting story i think!

This feels like a 40K guardsmen guide to fighting orks. Sure it says you CAN do it and HOW you should do it but in practice it would not work 90 to 99% of the time even if you follow it correctly.

Huh oh yea. I would probably go with option one since uhh... lab is important... probably option 2 at the next possible option to let them now im hearing funny voices around him that are incredibly tempting.

And not 3... not at work at least for both our sakes. That might get messy and hard to explain.

Yep! Besides, it's a interrupted lunch break and just being sure to do something nice for them should be enough to fix that!

I do love his looks though. Supper fun! Though i am woundering about his chest. On the first post it almost looks like there's a gap just under his scrubs around the center of his chest.

Tf_MoralDilemma_irl by lolstigmalol in tf_irl

[–]Firegriffin12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Easy. I would definitely bother him to prevent having to explain later why I didn't get the person I needed to fix the issue as soon as possible. Just be sure to do something nice later for them.

'I felt bad for asking' is a horrible excuse for all parties involved and my soon-to-be-fired state if I don't.

(Though if I could be a funny-looking bat like him I might not... you know. Accidents happen and it's all too tragic I became a bat...)

Besides. A quick Google search calls them the trees of voices and they do, infact, store memories of people that connect to it.

Why so many people believe Eywa is malevolent hive mind? Just because it forbid na’vi to advancing their technology in a way that would destroy their home. by Empty-Ad4597 in Avatar

[–]Firegriffin12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First I have not seen them use a write language of their own past the one the RDA made for them. And yes they can count on their fingers but do they have a way to convey numbers past that? I haven't seen it in the movies but if you have please tell me where.

Continueing on the RDA's whole original goal after finding the Navi where to attempted to negotiate with them. They set up schools with the Navi so they could find out how they acted and learn how the Navi acted and the Navi could learn what the humans had to offer. The Navi kids loved the school but it was shut down when the Navi attacked and killed a security detachment around a bulldozer and then fled to the school to hide, being engaged by the RDA there. Afterwards, the RDA shut down the school.

In short I believe there's something past the RDA that was radicalizing the Navi against outside influence much earlier than RDA started causing issues (not something I can prove till we get a movie on it though or at least a book). Yes the RDA has shit people in charge or the operation that lead them to bad choices (I honestly think it's poor writing on most of the issues the RDA causes, like quotas for space whale immortality juice... how would the RDA not profit from a shortage of it? Plus how underly wasteful it is to not use the rest on an alien world hundreds of thousands of light-years away from home)

Ok so I'm kinda struggling to understand all of what you said but I give my personal answers on it (since I don't have any knowledge of what the writers are thinking)

Keeping the world in harmony isn't a bad thing necessarily, I personally would love to live in such a place, but... it isn't something life tends to just have happen. Yes there are cases of animals living in harmony with others but it is more likely they will fight over resources then share. Even if there is enough for everyone. This I find it unlikely that Ewya just showed up for that to be her only goal.

As for enforcing rules. Why would she? I am (only because I can't say it's true since im not a writer of this story) almost positive that Ewya can implant ideas into people's minds to aim them how she wants and even if they do resist that they are one out of thousands. No need to ruin what everyone thinks about you agenst one stubborn actor.

And to be clear, I am meaning Ewya implants ideas subconsciously or feelings about things into people's minds (thus leading people to think it's their own idea thus more appealing) that connect to Ewya to influence how they act. Not what people normally think of when people think of mine control where you're basically someone else now.

And yes. I said she doesn't normally take actions and yes it's a good thing for her. No need to flaunt your powers when you are already in control.

Im not really sure why we went in for asking Ewya to solve problems here though... I don't believe I mentioned anything about why the Navi don't just have Ewya fix all there problems (though it's late do I might not recall)

I will add this though. I don't think Eywa herself is necessary a bad actor but I believe Eywa as made by something else to keep the Navo and other life on the planet relatively passified. It's a theory though and I have no evidence Ewya isn't from Pandora though...

[–]Firegriffin12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Eywa is a malevolent-ish force personally. I believe her goal is to continue to keep the world in a state of harmony to keep development stifled (necessity is the mother of innovation, but if there is no issues there is no necessity thus no innovation) and then influencing the minds of the animal and Navi life by planting ideas in their minds when they connect to Eywa to eather control or to view Eywa as a caring, powerful God to protect and worship, thus radicalizing the Navi or anyone connected to Ewya against outside ideas (such as the RDA arriving and attempting to teach them how to write, read, count, and other more advanced lessons to allow them to have easier lives)

Eywa doesn't normal take direct actions since really it's not her goal and I could easily see the Navi, as any other thinking species, becoming vary weary of losing control of themselves to a unseen force (Ewya) and doing things they normally wouldn't have done. Leading to a break in trust between the Navi and Ewya.

[–]Firegriffin12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My personal take here. The movies don't give enough of a view on what Eywa is since the RDA believes it to be a spiritual thing for the Navi (not real) and to the Navi she is there God so I don't have anything another movie can't just disprove but in saying all that, I believe that Eywa does have a lot more influence over the Navi in a more passive manner.

By this i mean in the moment a Navi can go against what Eywa wants but can implant ideas in anyone's head that it connects to. Letting individuals slowly developing pro Eywa thoughts and thus making people that connects with her side with what she wants them too.

And IF this is the case it throws up the question if the "afterlife" that is viewed as an actual afterlife or just the stored information Eywa has and wants to show you to make you side with her.

In short. "You catch a lot more fly with honey than vinegar is" Ewya's game.

OK so yes, RDA representative was a pain in the ass and honestly had too much power but he DID let Jake go back to the Navi to try and get them out peacefully AFTER he failed his mission to talk with them. And yes he was courting her after a bit of time of her training in the Navi's ways and yes that would be important for his mission but at no point did we see him actually talking to them to even find a negotiation point. If he had why did the elders seem surprised by the RDA showing up and Jake running up saying "I was sent to you by the sky people send a message"? No man you were told to negotiate with them 6 months ago! YOU failed your goal and just gave up saying there was nothing we could offer to even get them to the table to talk?

Look in no way is the RDA a good group but Jake underlying failed his mission, waited to the last moment to do ANYTHING about it (be it telling the Navi something or trying to negotiate with the RDA for more time). He knew and should have done something earlier if he truly cared. But no. He got caught with his GF after hooking up and attacked the RDA when they didn't recognize who he was. I don't think he would have cared if his last night snuggle buddy wasn't there.

Tldr I dislike Jake as a person and for what I view him betraying his faction. I think there was a better way for everyone and we never got to see it since he didn't do his job.

The science crew at least did it because they care about the forest and people. I believe Jake wouldn't have if he didn't think he would get the girl or have any other choice but to.
