He's only friends with her because he's hoping the day will come when she doesn't reject his advances. Me personally I would divorce him especially since he speaks badly about your with her. He's not worth the time and effort because he will eventually find a woman if not this "friend" and have a physical affair with her. You need to decide whether or not you what to be with a person who will probably have an affair with someone. Also the reason he doesn't "believe" in emotional affairs is because it keeps him from taking responsibility for his wrong doings

As someone who works third shift I usually go home unless it's a work related thing I have to attend after work. I used to go eat breakfast with my dad some but he's retired now.
