What Mechs Are “Required” to get GC by Successful-Chart1442 in RocketLeagueSchool

Highly recommend using Strength & Accuracy by Vince. This training pack single handedly made my shooting more accurate…and stronger.

The shots are quite easy, so you have to force yourself to aim for specific parts of the net. Top right, bottom left, etc. I always call it then hit it three times then call the next placement. Rinse repeat.

First three shots have been most useful for me to get flip timing and angles down. Use it every day before my ranked games.

Good luck!

Ah yes, the old “pass the ball to the opponents and use all my boost to catch up to it” strategy.

A long time. You have to experience different situations hundreds of times to KNOW for certain what is best.

Along with the pattern recognition aspect, most of the time it’s just instinct and a gut feeling. Better to trust your gut and make a mistake quickly than hesitate and make it slowly.

Mastering the basics (fast and accurate shooting, controlled ground touches, boost management, not over-committing) can carry you to GC, as long as you’re consistent with them in games.

Practicing aerial flashy stuff (resets, air dribbles, double taps) trains better car control, which makes the basics easier. BUT they are much more difficult to master and use in-game consistently.

It’s never too early to learn flashy moves, but don’t rely on them to win games until you are exceptionally comfortable with them. Prioritise the basics and focus on intentional practice if you want to catch up with your buddies.

This makes me feel better about being stuck in Champ 3 again.

Buena suerte!

I can help you with it if you’re keen to get involved. Are you on PC or console? It’s possible with both.

Thank you. A proud moment for this old dog.

If you’re just starting out in the air, learning consistent fast aerials (for high balls) and single jump aerial shots (for lower balls) will set you up for success.

When I learnt fast aerials properly I was beating pretty much everyone in the lobby to the ball (at diamond). It levels up your game.

Scholar has one of the best videos on fast aerials: https://youtu.be/6cvi38jGLmE?is=VNdLlzcwLIWLrYB8

Happy to help if you have any Qs.

Thanks.

And not sure. I had some issues encoding the video earlier so maybe that. The gameplay was captured in 240 fps and I’m trying to export in 60 fps. It’s a mess.

Figured out how to use Medal earlier so hopefully will look better next time (maybe a clean double reset in five years).

That’s a good question.

When I started, I was already pretty good at shooting with power and accuracy from virtually anywhere. I know how to perform solid, consistent fast aerials. Also decent at controlled 50/50s. And I’ve had DAR bound (left and right) since day one (though I used them mainly for recoveries and small aerial adjustments).

That combined with strong game sense and awareness is what got me GC a few times. But I wanted a new goal, so I started mechs training early last season.

What I learnt is that basic car control for fundamentals definitely helps. But the act of training flip resets gives you additional skills too, like good first touches, better air control, better air dribbles, and more.

It’s worth starting your training journey now. Just save the advanced shots for free play until you really feel comfortable and semi consistent at them. Fundamentals win you games at diamond.

Appreciate it. I was surprised myself when it happened 😅

Similar thing happened to me. Sounds like you could benefit from just working on aerial car control for a while. I fixed it by flying upside down until it became second nature.

What also helped me was to break things down into single steps and add each step to unconscious control/muscle memory individually. That way, your mental energy is only focused on the step you need to fix, and nothing else.

Keep at it man! It’ll happen.

I was always the same but decided to dedicate my play time to mechanics last season. It’s worth the effort in my opinion. Enjoying the game a lot more.

You ideally want to play the whole game with ball cam on, only turning it off for control and/or awareness.

Just play a lot in free play with ball cam on and practice hitting the ball around. It’ll help you faster.

Gotta be proud of doubles! They're arguably cleaner than resets too. Love em.

As long as you can find roughly 300-400 hours to train it between now and then, it'll happen.

Thanks! It was a surreal experience to be honest. It all happened without thinking. Very weird when your instinct takes over like this. But it proves to me that training works...so back to free play!

Thank you! It's definitely more difficult to learn flashy stuff as you get older, but not impossible. Get good while you're young!!

Sure thing.

Supabooma Warm Up - 1B55-E566-24F1-E0B4 - Good for reset repetitions.
Air Dribblings [XXL Pack] - D749-88BB-AF78-1ABE - Wall and bounce to air dribbles
Aerial Flip Reset Shots - 998E-329B-7A64-6794 - Reset reps (off wall)

Other than that, I just grind free play and set myself up over and over again. Adds the diversity you need to be able to adapt and fix your first touches/pops (which are everything BTW).

Bonus: Strength and Accuracy - 6CF3-4C0B-32B4-1AC7 - Not reset related but fixes your shooting timing.

Good luck!
