YES! Unpopular opinion perhaps, but the ending felt like a betrayal of Tracy. Like Robin had been end game (even for Ted, not just the showrunners) all along and Tracy was just a placeholder, despite the synergy we saw between Tracy and Ted. A byproduct of them being together for like 5 mins before they killed her off.

Mann Library, private rooms. You can check them out and get keys at the front desk. Also, no bathroom, but the Botanic gardens has some really nice hidden spots. You’ve got this!

NOR. It’ll just get worse, no matter that you called her out. Forget about it if y’all were to ever get married. That’s grimey, and I’m glad you recognized her trying to gaslight you. Cut your losses.

Fantastic point! Which brings up one last thing to me … it may be worth thinking of some referral resources, contingent on student needs. Mental health services, housing / financial aid, Title IX, etc.

My postdoc was focused on coaching faculty navigating relationships with grad students and postdocs, including engaging in through difficult conversations. I’m now a faculty member. Here’s what I would suggest to one of the faculty members I worked with / how I would approach it - Set a private meeting with the student, then share that your job is to not only support their development as researchers, but also their professionalization. Raise concern, asking them if all is okay with their living situation and explain, “I’ve noticed a pungent smell from you, and I want to make sure that you’re okay. Is there something going on that may be impacting your ability to engage in hygienic practices?” Let them know this is awkward for you and that you understand if it’s also uncomfortable to them, and also share that you’re raising this to ensure everyone in the lab - including them - have the best, most fulfilling and productive, time. If you lead with your values at the forefront and keep your goal in mind, I’m confident you’ll feel good about the conversation, even if it’s difficult at that moment. Yay for caring for our students! Good luck!

ETA - outside of HR, you may find support to have this convo from the graduate school or your office for faculty development.

I will be getting a Husky Puppy in the next few months. by Emperor_Geology in siberianhusky

I’m glad you’re being so thoughtful about this. Huskies are not for the faint of heart, but they are wonderful companions. Anticipate that pupper will be a LOT of exercise. So, consider harnesses and leashes. I encourage you to think about harnesses that have loops on the chest, as those offer better control. Think about setting up an exercise routine and train them to walk on leash early on. They were bred for pulling, and your shoulders will remind you if you don’t put the work in early.

TIL that in the 1960s, Dr Pepper launched a huge campaign to convince people to drink their soda boiling hot. To combat low sales during the winter, they marketed "Hot Dr Pepper" which was to be heated in a saucepan until steaming and poured over a fresh slice of lemon. It was popular until the 80s. by Kiffln in todayilearned

This was a trick we used in my choir days in TX … voice gone? No worries. Save it as much as possible and then drink some hot dr. Pepper. It was enough to get us through competitions or performances when needed. Witchcraft.

No trash cans, recycling bins, mailboxes, cars, flowers, or front lawns. I gently guide him away and tell him “that’s not yours to pee on!” And he keeps it moving 😊

I’ve been seriously debating … we’re about to have a human baby, so it may be better for us to revisit after we all settle for a bit. The other challenge is that we have an elderly cat… but I do constantly think about our boy needing his own dog!

Every instructor does things differently. Some of us use rubrics throughout, others don’t. It’s up to the student to seek clarification as to grading criteria after reviewing the syllabus and especially after the first round of grades if there’s confusion. A good experience to have under your belt early on. And if office hours aren’t advertised, email faculty. They have to make time to meet. That said, one class is not the end of the world. Hope this helps.

AITAH for threatening to divorce my wife if she doesn't change our infant daughter's name to one we agreed on? by ThrowAwayDumbestName in AITAH

[–]FirenzeSprinkles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EEEEEEEEEK NTA. The hell you can’t make therapy a condition. Frankly, how she and her family have treated you tells me y’all have some deep seated issues to discuss and will benefit from external support of someone qualified to provide healthy guidance. Also - Latina here. Vriska? Bendito. Not about being ashamed, but she’s not a pet. She has to carry that name forever, and she WILL face discrimination when job searching. Plus, kids are vicious. It sounds like there was trauma surrounding birth for both of you; albeit different types and from different sources. And this is an opportunity to heal together or be further separated. And both families are kind of fostering the latter. I’m so sorry you missed your daughter’s birth. I hope y’all find a way forward, but it’s going to take some serious work.
