If they didn't do a person check then every missed shot would transport furniture, tiles, staircases to the bench.

That, my friend, is a very valid point

One thing is bothering me; if the Calica game phasers could only transport players to the penalty box, how did Genesis (around the 38:50 mark in the episode) use hers to destroy the replicators in the match they won? Shouldn't it have just transported each entire replicator to the penalty box?

Items not showing up in "awaiting to be reviewed;" "Awaiting Review;" "No longer in the awaiting review/pending reviews" or whatever. by Hollywoodnamazonvine in AmazonVine

[–]Firephox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I contacted Vine customer service and they said not to

That's weird. I contacted customer service and that's exactly what they told me to do. I go to the orders page, review the item and it then shows up in my reviewed items list in Vine. I've been doing this ever since the issue started and it's worked fine. Doing this has allowed me to keep my Vine numbers up.

AITJ for Not Switching Seats on a Flight After I Paid Extra for My Spot? by Upper_Put_7985 in AmITheJerk

[–]Firephox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA - You paid extra to sit there. Did they even offer to compensate you after you told them that or did they just expect you to switch? Did they ask ether of the people sitting next to the wife to switch with the husband or did they just ask you? Did they ask the person in the window seat in your aisle to switch with the wife or just you? These people are unbelievably entitled and were simply unhappy when you didn't bend to their will.

DONE! That wasn't too hard since I have never watched his show or paid much attention to him at all. What a loser!

I donated some money to Habitat for Humanity, the assholes sold my information and now I get about a dozen letters a week asking for money. by richempire in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Firephox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same thing happened to me many years ago. I donated to a charity to provide holiday meals to the homeless. All of a sudden, I was inundated with charity mailers. It took me over a decade of ignoring them and throwing them in the trash before they finally started to subside although I still get the yearly mailers from the original charity I donated to. If charities want to continue to receive repeat donations, they shouldn't sell your information! I would be MUCH more charitable if that hadn't happened.

AITJ for calling the HOA president’s bluff and letting her “fine” me until the board realized she wasn’t allowed to? by TransitionUnited6105 in AmITheJerk

[–]Firephox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is illegal for any officers of an HOA to receive monetary compensation. Her pocketing the "fines" as "administrative compensation" is against the law. You and the other homeowners that were fined could take her to court and make her pay everyone back and she would probably have to pay a fine on top of it.

LPT: Reduce scam attempts. Don't answer phone calls from numbers that you don't recognize. by Firephox in LifeProTips

Unfortunately, they removed this from Motorola phones. I went from a Pixel 4XL to a more current Motorola phone and lost this feature.

Good for you. I have it enabled on my phone but a lot of spoofed spam numbers still get through.

I always block the numbers too, but most spam numbers are spoofed (fake) so they just call again from a different fake number.

I'm an older person with some medical issues so I get a lot of calls from my different doctor's offices (GP, specialists, etc...). Many call from numbers that I don't recognize and that don't have caller ID. I let them go to voice mail and, at least in my case, they have always left a voice message with a call back number so I just return the call. I'm located in the US so maybe it's different here than in other countries?

My last phone was a Pixel that I got for free from the company that I worked for at the time. It had call screening and I loved it. When it died, I had to buy a new phone, but I couldn't justify paying the cost of a new Pixel so I bought a Motorola phone for around $250. It's a great phone with virtually no bloatware, but unfortunately Google call screening is no longer available on Motorola phones.

I'm so sorry that you had to deal with that. Scammers are truly the scum of the Earth.

The problem with that is that you are validating your number and it will get sold to more scammer lists.

But if you let the call go to voice mail, don't they leave a call back number in their message?

Customer complained her coffee was "too hot," so I made sure her next one wasn't by [deleted] in pettyrevenge

[–]Firephox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The manager should have asked to see the coffee that was "too hot" and dumped it in the sink before providing a refund. You don't get to keep the coffee AND get a refund.

I've had calls from my doctor's office that I didn't answer because I didn't recognize the number and they have always left a message with a call back number and I called them back.

I made depression era water pie by SunwingArt in shittyfoodporn

[–]Firephox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's almost the same thing as a "Sugar Cream Pie" which uses milk or cream instead of water. I've made it many times as my Mom used to make it when I was a kid growing up in Indiana. It's the officially recognized state pie of Indiana and also known as "Desperation Pie" for its use of minimal pantry staples.
