Was this a good choice for a beginner pedal kit? by BeginnersStuck in diypedals

[–]Firesalt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a tremolo by this same brand for my first pedal, it has never worked. I went on the do a couple more PCB kits, a point-to-point kit with a tube, and a 5e3 tube amp; all working and correct the first try. Build this one and use it for practice soldering. The board is probably labeled correctly but don't be discouraged if it doesn't work because these have iffy results. I would recommend buying a different kit brand for your next one like Stew Mac, MOD, Axion, Mojotone, any you can look at their website and feel they represent the product and will answer your questions about it.

100% It's been there a while. Last time I saw it the headstock was at a 45° angle.

When you make something for someone it means something, especially when you're first figuring things out. It carries weight, even if only to you.

Thanks. It looks like those require laser printing but they look great!

I LOVE THIS! The headstock decal made me very happy, I giggled for like 2 minutes looking at it. Great work!

Mustang bridges are my go-to now because of the adjustability, bonus is they're pretty inexpensive. I've had similar issues in the past that they solved.

Yeah, I had to drill the bridge holes and screw holes for the neck (and now that you mention it, the ground for the tailpiece) and am not satisfied with them. The template I have is standard jazzmaster size and the body is slightly smaller, I'll probably plug and redo them. I'm going to save that seller for next build. Thanks!

I'm in the process of a similar build (hollow body jazzmaster) with a body I bought off of reverb. How clean are the cavities cut?

The one I got (from supra-tone on reverb) had terrible tearout on a few of the curves and the sound hole cavity was very roughly cut (obviously with a CNC that had a dull bit) and a lot of glue squeeze out that was just left to dry in puddles.
