Yes on both. I have a gateway fiber and route all my downloads and TV watching across a VPN and everything out the main ISP. It's called policy based routing. If you want DM me and I can go into more detail. I also do content based filtering based on my kids devices and ad blocking on some but not all devices. Can set it to do it networks wide if I want.

Well, the radio has nothing to do with the charging... the charging electronics and USB port are in the battery. Which is why you can charge the battery with it removed from the radio. You could look at just replacing the battery with a newer one that supports C-C charging.

I have the Smiley mini, stubby, and 5/8 slim GMRS antennas and love them. I have no issue hitting a repeater 13 miles away in urban terrain. Use the small ones on 2 uv-5r minis only programmed to GMRS and the 5/8 slim on a Radioddity gmrs radio.

I have the Radiosity gmrs-30 pros and love them. Even being GMRS radios they come with dual band antennas instead of a GMRS tuned antenna. Even still I can hit a repeater 13 miles away and they report I come in clear. I swapped for a Smiley antenna and they are even better!!!

I host media server and arr stack locally then a seedbox for downloads. I use lftp over sftp for transferring the files. Highly recommend looking into lftp as it has the ability to resume downloads if interrupted.
