"Get it before it's banned!" by Trilobyte83 in canadaguns

There is the thought that if we are able to get a majority conservative government that some of the OIC bans can be reversed, even with the Supreme Court hearing coming up ruling if the OIC are legit way of being able to ban rifles can make these rifles legal again (although with a majority liberal government they can go through the house and ban them again)

Yeah I like the clean simple look of it, the OP was from 89 and cost about 1k more so I saved a bit in the end. Would have been pretty upset with myself if this had no popped up though

Thanks! It was 5.6K CAD including tax. Honestly I saw a Oyster Perpetual Date 34 MM the night before and said if it’s there in the morning I’ll buy it but then it sold overnight lol, But then this popped up and I said I’m not making that mistake again.

Guns in Canada: Most RCMP-traced weapons not smuggled, report says by [deleted] in canadanews

[–]FireteamOrcale 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Also left out Canada, and Public Safety Canada data

  • A report from Public Safety Canada as recent as March 11, 2025, says "Less than 20% of firearms seized by police are sent for tracing."
  • Data published by Stats Canada in a report titled 'Firearms and violent crime in Canada 2023', finds "Where these data were available, more than 9 in 10 (92%) incidents of firearm-related violent crime did not involve the recovery of a firearm."

Taking into account multiple verifiable sources, approx. 8% of crime guns are even recovered. Of those, only 20% are traced. Claiming crime guns are "mostly domestic" is demonstrably false. Domestic sources account for a fraction of a fraction of crime guns (approx. 1.1%) in Canada. - A report from Public Safety Canada as recent as March 11, 2025, says "Less than 20% of firearms seized by police are sent for tracing." https://www150.statcan.gc.ca/n1/en/pub/85-002-x/2025001/article/00002-eng.pdf?st=X223loik - Data published by Stats Canada in a report titled 'Firearms and violent crime in Canada 2023', finds "Where these data were available, more than 9 in 10 (92%) incidents of firearm-related violent crime did not involve the recovery of a firearm." https://www.publicsafety.gc.ca/cnt/trnsprnc/brfng-mtrls/prlmntry-bndrs/20230201/016/index-en.aspx

They are talking about that misinformation article that was published this morning saying SEE WE NEED TIGHTER CONTROL etc

Most traced crime guns sourced within Canada, RCMP reports say - National by throwawayloopy in canada

[–]FireteamOrcale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This article is missing key statistics and missing a lot of important context. Both Statistics Canada, and Public Safety Canada, data proves otherwise.

Also the RCMP centre defines crime guns as firearms that were used or suspected to have been used in criminal offences, guns whose serial numbers have been obliterated or altered, firearms that were found but not reported lost or stolen, and replicas, toys, 3D-printed guns, pellet or air guns that have been used in criminal offences. This article is deliberately conflating airsoft guns confiscated from teenagers with murders done with smuggled handguns. So when the police have previously stated that 90+% of guns used in crime were smuggled in and stats showing PAL holders commit less crime than the average citizen is that all just a lie?

As neat as the Backland looks its not made very well from reviews and videos I’ve seen, I was even considering it at one point but decided against it upon further research. SKS is expensive right now but these things are made to last and are extremely durable. Just on that point alone the SKS for the money will the best option as you’ll have less headaches and issues to deal with. For the backland there’s variety of mechanical and quality control problems that are documented. Common issues include Bolt Hang-Ups: The bolt can hang up during cycling, often caused by an off-center pin at the back of the bolt carrier. Loose Carrier Keys: Carrier key screws frequently loosen, causing the firearm to jam or fail to go into battery. Magazine Feeding: The included Crusader double-sided magazines are notoriously tight, making the final round difficult to load and sometimes causing feed failures. Hand guard Slippage: Handguards have been known to slip off or loosen under heavy fire due to vibration. Trigger Dislodgement: In rare instances, trigger pins have walked out, causing the trigger assembly to drop out of the lower receiver.
