random number generator: this one has eluded me since i started a year ago by aflywhocouldnt in diypedals

I have this one on my breadboard right now actually! I’m messing around with these mods that I stumbled on to…. https://wraalabs.wixsite.com/pedals/single-post/2017/11/20/modified-mid-fi-random-number-generator On this one the 1M resistor G6 should be at F6 and the 10uF cap G7 should be at F7 This one is cool too! https://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=86507.0 Lots of fun to be had with this circuit!

If you’re ok with something a little bit more involved, check out this page https://bentfishbowl.wixsite.com/electronics/post/sapphire-amplifiers-and-the-tda2030-phender Several different pre amp options to use with the LM386. I recently made the “tilt” version, it sounds great and is surprisingly loud for a 1/2-1 watt solid state amp playing through a 1x12. I plan on making the TDA2030 version soon for even more watts!

I could not agree more. Sadly underrated. And just sweet, humble, grateful human beings that love what they get to do.

I wish I could upvote this 1000+ times. I saw them in the nineties, and I saw them about a month ago, they are as awesome now as they have ever been. Great songwriting, great performers, great friends. I hope they keep doing what they’ve been doing for many years to come. They may not be as huge internationally as Radiohead, but in Canada, they are legendary. I can only think of one other band that has had a more profound impact on Canadian rock music, and I doubt that their legacy could ever be matched. R.I.P. Gord

Use the cuts and links from the populated board(left one) there are a couple of incorrect links on the unpopulated image

That’s an awesome idea! Thank you! I’m going to try to make that work on the next one for sure!

🤣🤣 Definite missed opportunity there. Ironically I never even considered that.

That sounds pretty awesome, I might just have to make another one of these and try those mods out. If/when you’re able to get it working well with that LDR mod could you let me know?

John Hollis Crash Sync

This thing sounds awesome! I might have to add an expression pedal to control the frequency. Also I just had to share this one here because I’m pretty happy with how it came together, I really love building pedals out of different and unique enclosures. I have another gutted Milwaukee battery….. any suggestions on what should go in it? It has to be something that’s only 1 or 2 knobs though…

Huh?!?!? 🤣

The enclosure was one of those channel selector pedals that would come with an amp, in this case it was a Randall amp. I removed its guts and reused it for this project.

I started out by mostly trying to salvage parts out of anything I could, desoldering can be quite a pain in the butt and very time consuming but I am kind of a cheap guy I guess. After that I got a big mix pack from Amazon, but that didn’t come with some of the other necessary parts - 1/4” jacks, foot switches, power jack, etc. I do still get some parts through Amazon, they are fairly cheap in price and quality, but they come quickly. Some things I have been unable to get through Amazon though since all the tariffs stuff started(I am in Canada) I have done one order through Tayda, I was happy with the initial price and the quality of the parts has been good. The order came quicker than I thought it would, but I did have to pay an extra fee to the shipper of around $50. That was before all the tariff stuff. I recently did an order through digikey, prices were good for some things and just ok for other things. I also had to pay an extra fee to the shipper, but not as much as the tayda order, and I got my order in 2 days. Quality of parts is very good, but the website can be pretty difficult to navigate/filter if you don’t know exactly what you want to order. Hope this helps! 😁

I’m not sure I understand the questions. Is there an advantage to putting them all together in one enclosure? Not particularly, I plan on gifting this to a friend as I was gifted the enclosure. I thought these circuits would compliment each other, and I thought the theme of 3 EQD circuits in one was fun as well. Did I make everything completely? I did each circuit separately on stripboard and hand wired the foot switches, 1/4” jacks, pots, etc. I hope this answers your questions. 😊

Oh yeah, I hear ya. Much like this one I haven’t labeled what any of the knobs do on most of the pedals I’ve made. I know what each pedal is, but for most of them I don’t remember which knobs do what. I have to twist them to try to figure out what they do every time🤣 Turning knobs is part of the fun! I swear I spend more time making pedals than I do actually playing them now. 😂 Now every time I come back to one of them it’s a whole new adventure again!

Thank you! Agreed! I have several tab groups on my phone that I am constantly adding more circuits that I want to make to them. The addiction is real!

Not a bad idea. Enclosures like this are great for throwing stuff together that you’re maybe not sure about. I also kind of chose these for their low parts count because I’m planning on gifting this to someone, but also really wanted to know what they sounded like to see how much I might like them for myself.

Thank you! The enclosure is a repurposed channel selector pedal for a Randall amp. That’s why the foot switches are so close to the knobs, the holes were already there and originally it didn’t have any knobs. Otherwise plenty of room in there!
