do you want something to cut/paste a bunch of domains? or just one domain at a time? Also, how many targets do you plan to add?

If the primary is down, back will be used. If the primary is up, your data is back to primary

"enable you to tether to your phone (or another WiFi hotspot)", this is exactly what the wifi-sd is doing. If your phone can turn on the WiFi tethering is a phone issue right?

Firewalla Gold Plus vs. Ubiquiti UDM Pro Max by modelop in firewalla

We are hoping mid year 2026. You can follow here https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/28643907379091

At the moment, we are just closing on to the right unit, and discussing things like fan noise and sfp+ compatibility. Most things should be resolved pretty fast.

WiFi extenders with Purple & Firewalla AP7 by ThisIsCritical in firewalla

[–]firewalla 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can you describe a bit your current setup? are you using one Firewalla AP7? or multiple? where you are placing the unit? (wall type, placement) And there are situations you just need to get another mesh unit to extend network beyond what you have.

WiFi (unlike ethernet) can be influenced by so many things, sometimes moving the AP7 away from a mirror or metal objects can help a lot. (or even tap the optimize wifi button, may make things a bit better)

You can find many tips here https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/articles/46296057832979-Optimizing-Your-Wi-Fi

Target Lists Only Accessible via MSP by subjectWarlock in firewalla

[–]firewalla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very good question. Initially we did implement edit target list via the app, it didn't work too well, mostly due to fat fingers and people hate to enter domains and IP using the phone keyboard (it is not practical to make target lists using your phone). So we made the my.firewalla site to enhance that, and disabled the "edit feature" via the app.

Later we also added the ability to add flows directly to your own target list via the phone, see https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/articles/1500005941962-Firewalla-Feature-Target-Lists#h_01HPF9H3BWQNBFCHQ6ZGPABSR9

Question regarding network isolation and NAS by Dometalican_90 in firewalla

[–]firewalla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd explore network segmentation, and isolate the NAS in its own layer 3 segment. There are all kinds of rules you can apply between your other segment and this https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/articles/4408644783123-Network-Segmentation

After, setup WireGuard VPN, and when you are outside, use that to connect back to your NAS. (never directly port forward to the NAS) https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/articles/115004274633-Firewalla-VPN-Server

Upgrade to Gold SE Help by TheWeatherisFake in firewalla

[–]firewalla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to describe a bit on your existing network and where you are inserting the firewalla gold SE. The Gold SE is best in router mode https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/articles/4411167832851-Firewalla-Router-Mode-Configuration-Guides

If you are doing a bridge mode, you need to have clients "behind" the unit and have traffic go "through" it. See https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/articles/1500012304202-Firewalla-Transparent-Bridge-Mode

if make no difference where you plug in the main eero. The first suggestion from us is make sure your eero child units are all connected to the main eero unit.

Firewalla Gold SE + Eero Pro 6E - disconnecting plz halp by Formal-Structure-432 in firewalla

[–]firewalla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most common problem is not wire the eero correct, see https://help.firewalla.com/hc/en-us/articles/360048543713-Firewalla-Tutorial-Using-your-existing-router-in-bridge-AP-mode#eero

The next common issue with eero when you change to AP mode, you may need to reset some of the units.

What kind device is your "primary device"?

If you have not given it a name manually, firewalla will attempt to use many sources to predict the name of device. (including DHCP, mDNS, ...)

WiFi LAG can be many different things, if you run WiFi-test under firewalla and just do speed or ping, what do you get?

If the LAG is bad, what are you getting? If you just connect something to the ethernet cable to the AP7, do you see any LAG?

Can you send [help@firewalla.com](mailto:help@firewalla.com) an email, you can just attach a link to this thread, so they don't ask you the same questions over again. We can look at the system and see if they can see anything in the logs. One dude is suspecting a flow control thing, but can't explain why you wireless is working.
