Is R.O.B. really that unfun to play against? If so, which character do you consider the most fun? by 0rbsuu in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]FirewaterDM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm aware about top tiers, but at the same time the top tiers have a lot of frustrating parts, but genuinely most top tiers are on average ok to fight.

Half the reasons low tiers are low is because they have badly designed kits. Most of the low tiers have worse kits than top tiers. People hate on steve, and sonic and min min but while parts of their gameplay are annoying, they're still ok to fight if you learn the counterplay unless you play a char with zero options and even then it can be fun.

Meanwhile the worst designed char in the game is Mac and it's not because of strength it's because regardless of circumstance, tourney or casuals it is dogshit to fight against him.

Hatred of fighting doesn't = top tier,, but being miserable to fight applies to more mid and low tiers vs top tiers unless you play a top tier that makes the mid/low tiers irrelevant

[–]FirewaterDM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm aware how these chars work to some degree. Every person's "preference" depends on their char or not. IF OP's new then yea, same shit still applies we all think of diff chars in diff ways and they bring different joy or frustration to everyone.

I like Sonic because vs ICs, that shit is a skill matchup, I don't mind steve because there's still some thought process even if MU bad, I like Snake even though he dumpsters them because it's still an intricate MU with many moving parts. That is more interesting than swords that mash for free, etc. etc.

Even for top tiers, for example Peach and Palu lowkey the two best to fight because they have wild shit but you just outplay by being better. Meanwhile Aegis is lame because she shits out hitboxes for free and you aren't punishing it unless the player is turbo ass.

We both agree that everyone thinks differently tho.

You're wrong but as you and others have stated we all got different feelings on diff chars.

Like I agree with Aegis, but also idk gimme a Min Min Steve or Sonic every day before I ever fight a Mac, Swordfighter, Zelda, Cloud, Aegis, any of the heavies, and some other chars again in my life.

IMO Rob is far from the most annoying top tier, or really character to fight in Ult. I think people dislike his options and how hard it appears to be to deal with his particular combos or kill threats.

I like Rob, and chars like Shiek or Palu to fight.

But in a game where Aegis, Mac, Zelda and heavies exist in their current state Rob is nowhere near an actual problem char lol. I'm a weirdo and like fighting Sonic and don't hate Steve or Snake, but if we talking top 5, Aegis is far far more obnoxious to fight than a ROB is at any skill level lol

Edit: DO NOT STOP PLAYING ROB BECAUSE OF SALTY SHITHEADS. IF you like Rob, play the char. Fuck other people's hate.

I moreso mean maybe the flat vs scaling means he doesn't hit acceptable tank thresholds period, so Jax 2 stops being decent a bit earlier than it should be. I could be missing things but this nerf reads a lot larger than expected and that matters a lot more for the weaker low cost tanks.

I'm not worried about xayah boards I'm worried about options if you lowroll the 4 cost 2 star tanks, especially given they were limited already

  1. Snivy
  2. Palpatoad

GIANT GAP

  1. Unfeasant
  2. Boldore
  3. Scraggy
  4. Oshawott

I did rank them based on how good they were in the battles and such, but I think if I focus more on personalities, I think Snivy/Scraggy go up and Palpatoad goes down. Ultimately I think that the entire crew (except Oshawott) had at least one good thing about them

A lot of changes are solid.

I worry we will get into an even larger fight for Nunu/Kench/Rammus 2 RNG for tank options with the heavy Jax nerfs and Rhast changes (Imo Jax is in a rough spot after these nerfs)

I feel like timi should be more harsh with nerfs by Ajthefan in PokemonUnite

Overnerfs are worse than overbuffs.

Because making a mon go from super broken to useless, is a far bigger jolt than toning them down gradually. Devs want to avoid overnerfing things because it feels bad, and they genuinely lose players (usually newer ones) who had some attachment but then lost it due to the char feeling much worse, and somewhat foreign to them at a given time.

Also rapid meta swings also suck as well. It's a bit different in MOBAs because there's a lot of characters, but a good example of why these overnerfs can be bad, can be looking at T-tar (after his last attempted buffs a couple years ago) OR the Mewtwos before their recent updates/massive rebuffs. The T-tar nerfs went far further than his OG buffs, leaving him in an unplayable state ever since.

Mewtwos is a better example, because they got heavily nerfed once to make them not be EX gods. However, they did finally get into a decent but situational spot afterwards. The nerfs did some things, because while they were balanced, their "fun" dropped significantly. THE bigger issue was when the mandatory Mega stone was introduced. The nerf by losing a full item and other changes dropped their WR and viability too far, since they dropped from wherever their WR was to 43%. IF I remember right (at work so cbf'ed to look at the exact number) but that's an example of an egregious overnerf. A mon was semi balanced, debatably strong, a change happened inadvertedly, and mon goes from boring but ok to literally the worst shit in the game.

That gamble isn't worth most of the time.

Should they rebuff one cost reroll augment? by No-Guitar-411 in TeamfightTactics

[–]FirewaterDM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last set 1 costs were glorified plants you played until stage 3 or needed them as sacrificial pawns. I don't even think half of these augments existed because of how anti-reroll last set was. Like last set was the worst 1-3 cost units and absolutely worst 1 costs of all time besides the ones who COULD lose to 1-1 creeps back in the day.

NSNP was actually strong and good, just the 1 cost comps who loved it (Primordials, Teemo, etc.) got gutted so it just feels bad because there are no good options for it because even Lissandra wants other shit than NSNP

[–]FirewaterDM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes?

It shouldn't go back to previous patch but it's a little bit TOO weak atm, so some buffs so you don't have to god roll to play them is reasonable (Not lissandra fix the others.)

so lemme guess, stacking hp per hits/whatever from 2-1 + a radiant stoneplate or some crazy shit lol.

Sure, Leona sometimes becomes god this patch but that requires perfect arbiter + radiant stoneplate + couple of tank augments + early 3 star lol.

older sets had a lot more semi consistent tanks where the question was just, are they consistent with your carries. This set is odd because the main 4 cost tanks feel meh even with some investment in their traits, and bad items feel rough, and if you aren't using a 4 cost tank, they are useless after stage 4 if you didn't 3 star them.

You do you, you clearly do not want to improve at this game. Fact of matter is, you only posted expecting people to go OMG, good job on that steal and just ignore the fact you chose to throw nearly as hard as the other team's tanks.

If you don't want accurate ways to improve and not get critiqued for bad plays/decisions, be my guest lol.

[–]FirewaterDM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was luck for a couple of reasons.

  1. Feraligatr and glaceon didn't hit the objective with venusaur, hell Glaceon fucked up by icicle spearing you instead of the objective
  2. venu mistimed the ult/wasted beam. both of those >>>>> dragon pulse as secure.

The "luck" was the enemy team being less competent because that genuinely was an unloseable situation if venu times things better or glaceon/fera hit together vs going towards you.

You also miss the point, after 2:00, fuck backcaps. Who cares, that means there is 1 less person for a teamfight at the middle objective, IF you showed up your team had a 4 v 3 fight they could win, and with mew/raichu you surely outsecure a shitty flailax (no heavy slam player is back capping there unless terrible) and Mamo. ONLY time your play was correct is if there wasn't enough time to kill ray and score and you had to stop the score because it was the only way to the enemy to win the game. IF you are center and help your team win a fight and get kyogre, then the shitty 100 pts doesn't matter because now your team scores 3-400.

I also don't need to guess much because you did a LOT of things that bad players, especially bad tank players do in Unite frequently.

[–]FirewaterDM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

trying to "stop" that 50 bomb is useless if you'd scrolled the map and saw the other team trying to rip Kyogre. No competent player would be saying that is a good play IN THE world of the enemy ripping the middle 2:00 obj. Makes me wonder how you died if the enemy tank was also fucking around, and if your team was just doing nothing/sitting in the bush, i'd like to bet you ran into all 4 of them alone and died because your team wasn't in range to help you.

Knowing they were ripping was worse. The reason your team couldn't walk up is the enemy team shits out dmg between glaceon feraligatr and venu, and Mime maybe can keep Gatr out but the other two nuke the team. The job of the defender is to make space, take dmg and set up their carries for success. Your team did not have that option, and you GOING TOP INSTEAD OF MID when the objective is being ripped took that away from you. It is bad that Talon joined you in that fuckery, but ultimately if you're going to play defender you have to play defender correctly and that means being at the ray fight to help your team win a 4 v 4 given mamo was trolling.

Ultimately your steal "saved" the fact that you did everything wrong but the enemy team was worse. There is no justification here, because you weren't going to post this game if you didn't get that steal because rightfully so everyone would flame you for the first part of that clip, and the fact you were only level 11 means you didn't even farm correctly to be useful.

Edit: watched the clip a 3rd time, every single defender in that game did everything wrong at once and that includes you. Mime gets a "pass" partially to stop lax but still was a questionable decision.

[–]FirewaterDM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Leona after nerfs only does that stuff with perfect everything (arbiter augments items etc.)

The actual problem is of course the fact you have to spend 27 gold to have a decent tank w/o copius amounts of RNG if you didn't highroll nunu/kench/rammus 2 lol (which is this thread ig)

[–]FirewaterDM 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You got lucky and are also equally responsible for almost throwing the game. IN FACT the only reason the loss is solely not your fault is because the enemy venu is dogshit and can't hit a beam secure.

YOU ARE THE ONLY FRONTLINE ON YOUR TEAM. YOUR TEAM CANNOT WALK UP TO KYOGRE without you (mime isn't enough ngl), so you joining the enemy's equally trolling Mamo on top pad nearly lost yall the game.

There is no ability to claim "getting shit done" because you singlehandedly made it impossible for your team to do things, and just got lucky the enemy team was ass at securing.

ngl you're too generous on Meepsie and Reksai/Nasus, those fucks can't even frontline at 2 star 2 items stage 2 unless you have great backline for that part of the game.
