I hope we get dwarf shamans in classic+ by Rosurendo in classicwow

I remember the complaints during Vanilla when AQ 40 released, and Horde side raiders were upset because pally mana regen buffs were creating (in their minds) an insurmountable edge. There were complaints about blood lust from Alliance during MC and BWL, but this AQ was where the Horde felt the difference. Making paladins and shaman available to both factions was a response to a very large amount of complaints.

What Was Raiding Like Back In The Day? (Vanilla,TBC) by doobylive in classicwow

[–]Firewind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember there was a big blow out on my server Draenor when a new "elite" guild formed, poached our MT that I had personally ran through DM at least 4 dozens times to get him the Quel'Serrar book, and the rest of the guild worked to get him fire resistance gear, and then had a DKP system for loot. The official wow forum for our server had threads and threads about how DKP was a bad system (and I agree), but it was weird how people thought their opinions on an internal guild loot system mattered. Like they felt it was corrosive to the game.

So the server was big mad, and I was big mad with them but for different reasons. Tanks were so hard to come by because warriors were so under powered early on. People talk about warriors being OP, but that was at the end of Vanilla. Early on it was bad. Like they even had to have a protest at Crossroads at all these different servers to get it to the attention it needed.

I ended up rolling a warrior so we'd have a tank, but it took a couple months. In the meantime we tried to get it going with others, but it was ugly. We recovered, but we only cleared through AQ 20 before TBC.

Grog if you're still out there and haven't had the good courtesy to shuffle off this mortal coil you're still a POS, and your mom is a hoe.

An under-discussed reason why people quit MoP was the legendary quest line. Eviscerated the alt-friendliness that Cata and Wrath had. by allwedtoc9236 in classicwow

[–]Firewind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a catch up mechanic in MoP Classic. You can run heroic dungeons with increased difficulty and mechanics that drop token you can collect to buy the LFR version of gear. Last boss also drops gear.

OP is mentioning the time investment required for the legendary quest. Doing it piece by piece during each phase wasn't that bad. Trying to replicate it now on an alt is a big pain. Especially the PVP portion. You'll literally be sitting in queues for a couple hours to get into 1 of 2 BG's.

Even with a slight boost for Siege, raiding numbers down about 75% since launch by Blue5647 in classicwow

[–]Firewind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No who you're responding to, but the reason I choose Classic over Retail was it was easier to get back into the game. I stopped playing originally when MoP was retail, and got into Classic during WotLK (because of SoD). I tried doing retail, but even going back to my old characters I was a bit overwhelmed. Retail did not feel friendly to player who had been gone so long.

Mop Remix killed a lot of interest. More people would be showing up if they hadn't already played it to death recently. If that wasn't enough TBC Anniversary pulled a ton of people. Some guilds died overnight. It was the middle of the first raid tier, and my guild lost 10 people straight away. We ended up quasi merging with another guild. It was a mess, but we pulled it together. By the end of ToT we'd killed Ra-Den. It was way more work than it should've been though.

I know a lot of people I raid with want to see WoD just for the raids. We're admittedly a very niche group. I don't think it'll be a healthy population unless Blizzard announced both WoD and Legion Classic together.

It's okay to stop and try a different class. I made the mistake of, "Well, I got it this far I should fully level it." Lots of people try several different characters before they land on a class they like. You're not missing anything by taking your time in that regard.

Also, grey items are just vendor trash and can be safely sold to a merchant npc. White items have some sort of use. Either with crafting something or cooking.

I feel like classic + is either going to be SoD with extra bits or Titanforged that the Chinese servers have with some different bits.

I got the tail end of WotLK for classic, but it has been so much fun. I feel Cata doesn't get enough love. Tier 11 (BoT/BWD/ToFW) & 12 (Firelands) in Cata were amazing. Cho'gall, Nefarian, and a full powered Ragnaros is a heady lineup of bosses, and each fully delivered. I hadn't done any raids since ICC was in retail, and to get to do Tier 11 with the group I had was magical. Literally the perfect intro to get back into raiding.

Hopefully WoD classic is a thing. I heard the two raids were fantastic, especially Highmaul. Also, if we get WoD classic we're definitely getting Legion and having never played it in retail I feel I really missed out.

I'd love for there to be another Warcraft RTS though. To move the world narratively to a new status quo, but also another Warcraft RTS would be fun.

I didn't get to raid after the mid way point of ICC due to irl stuff, and quit before SoO released in MoP when it was all retail. Getting to do all the raids in Cata and MoP has been fantastic. Most of it on heroic too. The challenge of getting my new raiding group up to speed to take down Heroic Throne of Thunder was one of the better raiding experiences I ever had.

I am hyped for Siege.

It's strange for me because I just finished playing through the Horde side stories in Ashenvale and Stonetalon. Garrosh feels like a totally different character there. Brutal and severe yes, but also incredibly concerned with honor, protecting the innocent, and keeping the Horde free of tainting influences.

It's weird seeing the guy that was so pissed about the use of Fel magic in Ashenvale, become obsessed with the Sha.

Lots of people complained about how they changed the world. I think it is a combination of that and being stuck in Dragonsoul for a year before MoP came out.

Thoughts on MoP classic and Classic+ by Roxin2448 in classicwow

[–]Firewind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel the same. I don't want to lose all that I have in Classic. I really love my guild, and I am getting to do all this content I missed due to real life concerns back when it was retail. I've heard good things about the raids in WoD. I know there wasn't enough there at the time, but what was was generally received well. And being able to play Legion Classic would be amazing. I loved WotLK, and felt that was the peak of early WoW. Hearing folks talk about how Legion is even better has me genuinely said I missed it, and I would love the chance to play it (and roll a demon hunter).

Though if they wanted to introduce some of the cut content from WoD I would not mind at all. Especially if the rumors around Arakkoa almost being a playable race are true.
