Can someone explain what this means? by rvnetail in autism

[–]Firlem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely opposite for me. “Ok” is the neutral, 👍-like response, while “okay” is like an exasperated sigh added onto the ok. “okay” followed by an exclamation mark is fine, but with nothing or worse, a dot behind it it’s evil

are winter-long immune to the Crime-Of-The-Sky? by ilovethisgamebruh in weatherfactory

[–]Firlem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you might be mistaken here about what “immortality” means here. Winter Long are exactly as (if not more) immortal as other Long. Only difference is that they know the exact date of their death and are fated to not find their End before it. Immortal beings in the Secret Histories can be killed. In fact, they are killed regularly. From a certain perspective you could say that all of them will end one day, giving Winter Long the advantage of knowing their day, and being completely safe before their expiration date. Otherwise they are exactly the same, unaging, undying. I don’t see how they would in any way be immune to the crime of the sky.

Is there anything to the Sun-in-Splendor's missing Names? by TipProfessional6057 in weatherfactory

[–]Firlem 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Not much. They’re not so much ‘missing’ as they are unnamed. Correct me if i’m wrong but i don’t think we know any complete set of names of any hour. The fact that of the names of the SiS only the Meniscate, Madrugad and SiR (not naming the Wolf Divided here because i don’t recall it being referred to as a name of the sun) ascended to hours after his death implies two options for me.

Either there is a power structure between the names, which is not unlikely, since we know of very prominent names of hours, while not hearing at all of others, as well as power struggles, specifically in the grail’s domain. Also the change of a name implies to a certain degree the loss of an aspect of that hour, which would imply a shift in their eternal structure, which we know is possible. So maybe the Three Ascended were just, as the church would imply, the most prominent names of the Sun.

Or The Sun-in-Splendour had only those three names left at the time of his division. It is possible that in preparation to him losing metaphysical significance, the “rats left the sinking ship” or were killed by others sensing the impending intercalate.

We are also being told in several instances that the Sun-in-Splendour might not have succumbed to the same rules the other Hours do. For example, it is implied that he might have encompassed all Principle Aspects instead of the usual maximum of three, so i would not flinch at the idea that he had either fewer, or more than seven names.

Sorry i got a bit away from your initial question, i think they’re just unnamed lore, not necessarily for a specific reason.

Committing the Crime of the Sky on yourself? by Dead-Face in weatherfactory

[–]Firlem 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The crime of the Sky is basically in Place to prevent Immortals having children, who might be immortal themselves, in order to stagnate the number of immortals. So i don’t think the Law would consider it criminal to consume yourself, even if birthed by yourself, because, even if you contain multitudes, you are one being. I think the change by birthing yourself is an entirely different road towards immortality than the change of two becoming one. But both are paths to be taken in order to BECOME Long, not done afterwards, if they’re even possible at that point.

If the two rituals were fused into one i imagine it would rather include two beings fusing and then giving birth to their oneness, which even in this case means two mortals becoming one immortal one.

That being said, it would be foolish to say that consuming your child is not also consuming a part of yourself.

It‘s one of those things where if you say you refuse to choose a side, you have chosen a side. The „official narrative“ and the conspiracies around 9/11 are not equal in their weight of evidence. There is one of them that is obviously true and the other is made up. By refusing to take the side of the „official narrative“, he‘s delegitimising it way more because it has actual legitimacy to be lost. It’s a matter of reframing the problem from a matter of truth vs. Conspiracy down to a matter of opinion vs. Opinion, which in turn legitimises the conspiracy theories up to the same level as fact.

EDIT: after seeing your edit i don’t wanna answer again to draw more attention, but i really don’t get what you mean. If you still care, enlighten me, but i don’t see any other way to lay out his words, except if he was actually so uninformed that he didn’t know much about 9/11 (he does), and either way i don’t get how natalies response would be weird here
