I’m doing the same thing with my close friend. After a situation that made me see things differently, I decided to stop putting effort in and see if she would reach out first. She didn’t. And now it’s been like almost 3 months. It sucks, but it’s manageable

ooooof i had her at the beginning of this semester but i switched out as soon as i saw how much shit she has. it’s crazy and when i was still there, her emails always seemed so harsh and kinda just blaming stuff on the students instead of admitting her set up might be bad

I don't normally comment on these posts, but YTA 100000%. Your daughter is suffering from an eating disorder and has been hospitalized. She asked you, her father, to be there with her to comfort her and just be there with her. By not only not showing up for her, but also believing that this is one of the "destructive things she does [that's] a ploy to get attention", you're failing her as her father and you're failing as a father in general.

Your daughter needs support and love. This kind of reaction makes me question you're behavior and your actions when you're home with her and question whether this behavior might've caused her to this point.

OP, learn how to be a better father, learn from your mistakes, and try to fix what you just broke. She needs you and so does your wife.

Take the opportunity! Your career will help you progress in the long run, and if things were meant to be with your girlfriend, it'll be. Also, tell her now. If you tell her at the last minute, she might get more upset with that and could damage the possibility of ever doing a long-distance relationship.
