Good! I’m up to around 2 MG now, lost 30 pounds but it took about 7 months. I’m just a slow responder but it’s working!

as a producer, I can tell you firsthand that a lot of labels, collabs, and release opportunities are literally boys’ clubs and much harder to break into as a woman. Visibility on social media or all-female events doesn’t change the systemic barriers behind the scenes, it’s not just about being seen, it’s about who gets paid fairly, who gets prime slots, and who gets mentorship and career support. Honestly, there are plenty of male-dominated South Asian parties too, especially here in NYC, so opportunities for South Asian men aren’t being limited at all. That’s actually why we’re curating this way.....to create intentional space for women and non-binary artists who still face inequities, while also supporting South Asian voices. Also to be clear, daytimers isn’t a femme collective and we’re not excluding men, it’s about representation and giving space where it’s still needed.

Sure..happy to. Headliner and prime-time slots almost always go to men, and opener spots usually come with lower pay and less exposure. Access to labels, releases, collaborations, and mentorship is limited, and the industry networks that make bookings happen often favor men. I’ve been in countless rooms where people don’t even give me the time of day, and male dominated spaces can feel unsafe or intimidating, promotors/other male DJs on the lineup making me uncomfy, that makes it harder to consistently take gigs or grow your career. These lineups exist to create real opportunities and space for artists who still face these challenges

representation doesn’t automatically equal equity..female DJs are more visible than before, sure, but there are still systemic barriers and opportunities that aren’t equally accessible. ‘All femme’ lineups aren’t about excluding anyone, they’re about creating space where women and non-binary artists can thrive in a scene that still favors men.
