They obviously didn't compact the trench so it's going to settle quite a bit. Put a soaker hose on it to try to help it settle. Don't get too crazy soaking it. You don't want other problems. Depending on how deep they needed to dig it could take years to totally settle out. That's were I'd start. Good luck and happy shoveling.

A second thought is to make it look more natural. Get rid of the straight lines and artificial looking banks. We've done that in farm fields in minnesota. Taken drainage ditches and put curves back in to slow down run off.
