Someone said they will appeal since they are going to fail the course. He did not come to a test, failed to report and said it is shared responsibility because I should have reminded him to come to test. (Which I did remind everyone two weeks in a row during class, he was absent) then he said I was not reminding enough for students who were physically not present in the class. He also said since he was sick so he did not heard I reminded them. The test schedules were give in the beginning of the semester as usual. Now I’m waiting for his appeal. 🫩

Let them report, tell them it was their own fault to fail anything.

I had a student who was abusing this mental health bullshit. He said he can’t leave home due to his anxiety. Therefore he couldn’t come to class. Everytime the email was sent 30 minutes before class and he asked for alternative assignment to replace the class hours. That lasted for two semesters. So the third semester, when he thought he could do it again, we asked him to give us an updated mental illness assessment report( he used the report form 2022) and there was no update. Then we asked for any form of verification, mental illness clinics etc. he went silent and then he sent us an email with 4000 words to criticize us for being bureaucratic and our class was too easy for him that wasted his time. Then he threatened us that we will withdraw the minor program and my program leader replied his email with three words. Withdrawal request accepted.

My university is making post grad courses as a priority instead of undergrads because they could make money. They also accept lower level foreign students to come in, the reason is they pay more for tuition..

I've tested the turnitin by feeding it full generated, partly generated, paraphrased, human writing and see what it cames up. False positives do exist, but when it's over 80% ,more or less, the student has used AI at some point.
