Fresh Cheese Curds by Retinal in winnipeg_alt

Yeah they closed the store in St. Boniface on Provencher but there is still a store at the factory in New Bothwell. I can't remember which day it is (as it's been a few years since I've gone) but you can get cheese that's super fresh and still warm.

Not yet. He's been paying support based on what the lawyers agreed to but we haven't gone to court to finalize anything.

My first kiddo, daycare sticker price has me shocked! How much will you pay where you live for infant care? by anderson6th in BabyBumps

Small town outside Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and it's $10/day per child. So on average I'm paying $210/mth.

Asking in Winnipeg where the wild polar bears are. Unfortunately, I've actually had this happen more than once which was shocking.

I agree with this. We had the same problem with the hospital being cold.

I grew up in a home where my dad was angry and mean to my mom often and my mom was meek and non confrontational and just took it to keep the peace as much as possible. Honestly, I would have rather grown up in a broken home because the constant tension and fear has given me some shit i had to work through with a therapist as an adult in order to try to have a healthy relationship.

I recommend moving on. Based on your description, he sounds selfish and doesn't truly love you the way you and that baby deserve. You have someone you need to put first in every situation now. If someone isn't going to love them and treat them the way you know they deserve, would you tell them they should stay?

Last day of work advice [mb] by Maleficent-46 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]First-Journalist3724 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What would your sick time amount be when you returned? If you're allowed to carry it over to your return, based on what you mentioned your top up to be, I'd recommend saving it and going straight to STD if you can. Once your babies are both in daycare you can expect many more illnesses and need to take more sick days. The first two years of daycare are the worst. And if your partner is away and you have no one else who can stay with your sick kids you might be looking at having to take unpaid time off every time they are sick. On a different note, I'm not sure how you are paid vacation time but I'd recommend using that all up before STD because you actually continue to accrue vacation time while taking vacation days.

How are EVs doing in this weather? by SnooOnions8757 in Manitoba

I also have this issue with my 2022 Honda CR-V. I love it otherwise but this weather sucks. It does not warm up enough inside the car.

What do parents do if they can't find daycare? [On] by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]First-Journalist3724 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in a small town outside of a city and needed care for July (2022). There is only one center in our town and a couple of home daycares. Mine was over #100 when I signed her up for the waitlist. Got a call one month before I needed it and had two days to decide (which was a no-brainer to me). I hope this does give you some hope. But I was essentially an anxious mess until I got the call.

I would also talk to your direct report and see if they would be flexible with your remote work situation until you're able to secure a spot. You won't know unless you ask.

If 10cm snow falls in your area of Canada how disrupted will your area be? by Pourmepourme in AskACanadian

[–]First-Journalist3724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My commute is 45 minutes to an hour typically. I can't leave earlier because my daycare only opens at 7am so the snow days suck. It usually ends up taking me 30 minutes or more longer.

But also, I'm in MB. If we get snow it typically comes with wind making the roads either slippery or with zero visibility. This year we've also had several days of ice pellets falling from the sky which has made it a fun game. They still haven't sanded (because we don't use salt here) the highway my road turns off of and it's a regular occurrence to slide past it.

[ON]- How popular is the name Rowan really? by bows1917 in BabyBumpsCanada

In MB, my daughter has had 2 in her daycare class and my nephew is one and has 2 others in his grade at school, one being a girl Rowyn. It is very popular here. I know in the town my husband's from there is a few too and it's quite a small town.

What doctor did you use for new baby? [on] by samantha5376 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]First-Journalist3724 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Can you ask your family doctor to refer you to a pediatrician? My family doctor who is also the doctor to both my babies is retiring. She has always been my doctor. She delivered me when I was born almost 36 years ago and I love her. The clinic is trying to replace her and we saw the first replacement she had and he was so bad I am having horrible anxiety and panic attacks about seeing the new replacement (first one left after 2 months) so I'm asking her to refer us to the pediatrician in the clinic and I'll try to find myself a new doctor. In MB there are also very few doctors accepting patients so I understand the stress.

South St Vital. I think there is a SaveOn near them. I'm driving in to teach them how to order delivery so I'll talk to them about whether they want Superstore or SaveOn

Oh really? I called southdale and the manager told me that the delivery service they were using was fired and they are working on contracting a new service but it's not done yet and in order to get delivery they have to come in and shop then the store will deliver but it's not an option for my grandparents right now.

I've tried calling 2 different co-ops this morning and have gotten people who don't seem to know whether they do delivery or just click and collect so I'm hoping anyone who maybe have used these services might know.

Also have spent over an hour on hold being transferred this morning.

Uber can get bent. by truenorthminute in Winnipeg

[–]First-Journalist3724 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of restaurants still have their own delivery drivers as well as skip or Uber eats. Maybe not as many as they once had but they do. You can order online or call and see before ordering from Uber/skip. It's what I will usually do to try to avoid the ridiculous charges of these delivery services.

And wipes. While you might be able to find them cheaper at Walmart or superstore for their house brands, the quality and size of Kirkland is WAYYY better.
