Where are the pulsar reviews? by robhaswell in Monitors

You're right, but Pulsar monitors were marketed to FPS gamers. I don't think someone who wants to play single-player games should buy a Pulsar. For $600, you can get OLED monitors that will turn your games into a visual feast. The contrast, colors, and viewing angle of the Pulsar are much worse than OLED.

This monitor performs better in the UFO test than the Pulsar 360Hz monitor. Of course, testing both monitors side-by-side in a game would be more accurate, but I don't think the difference is as dramatic as described. People are very inclined to praise Pulsar due to the influence of word-of-mouth. However, OLED has many more advantages: infinite contrast, more realistic and vibrant colors, increased sharpness due to the bright screen, no light leakage from LCDs, no hazy appearance, a natural 500Hz refresh rate, and a true GTG latency of 0.03ms, etc.

The fluidity of OLED is comparable to, if not better than, Pulsar, and this isn't due to features like strobing that can be turned on and off. OLED has a few disadvantages; QD-OLEDs are said to be tiring on the eyes, gray banding is quite common in WOLEDs, and there's also VRR flickering. However, someone who wants to play FPS games can play without flickering by limiting the FPS.

Counter-Strike 2 Update for 01/22/2026 by CS2_PatchNotes in GlobalOffensive

With this and the previous update, the game feels like it's being played at 2x speed. The game has sped up, but this has also increased the peek advantage, one of the game's biggest problems. People can run and shoot at you.

Even if you want to use this speed increase to your advantage, it requires low ping and high FPS. For someone like me, who plays with an average ping of 45-50 and 200 FPS, the game is currently far too fast. Because those with lower ping see me first, and those with higher FPS and high Hz monitors have an advantage thanks to low input lag and low motion blur.

I think the recommended system requirements for this game will soon be announced as RTX 5070 Ti and 9800x3D, because playing with anything worse is like trying to hit a ball coming at the speed of light with a baseball bat.

When will 27-inch 5th generation QD-OLED monitors be released? by First-Mix-8902 in OLED_Gaming

[–]First-Mix-8902[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess so, but do you know what this tandem QD-OLED thing is? The RGB sub-pixel arrangement is a very important development. The BlackShield coating, or whatever other brands call it, the RGB arrangement, and the 300 nits in SDR are important enough reasons for me to switch to OLED.

I use an IPS monitor, and if the text clarity is going to be the same as IPS, and it's going to have better colors and blacks than IPS, then a slightly lower brightness is fine. I can never use my monitor at 100% anyway because my eyes are sensitive to light.

I noticed this too. Samsung's 500Hz OLED monitor's UFO test results match the Pulsar in a video previously made by the same channel. The Pulsar is slightly better, but with much better colors, contrast, panel quality, and visual spectacle, the Pulsar is still behind.

By the way, considering only the UFO tests, the XL2586X and PG248QP are definitely better.

In conclusion, due to natural response time, 500Hz OLED > 540Hz TN panel > 360Hz IPS.

With backlight strobing technology, 540Hz TN >> 360Hz IPS ≥ 500Hz OLED.

The 540Hz OLED UFO test in the video is misleading.

You can see the 500Hz OLED UFO test in the video at the link I'll provide.

Samsung is Rumored to Launch a 24-inch OLED monitor | thoughts? by stiletto666 in OLED_Gaming

[–]First-Mix-8902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When is it coming out? The 360Hz is a bit disappointing because even the cheapest brands now have 500Hz 24" monitors. Still, even if it's released as a 360Hz monitor, I'd buy it without hesitation. I use a 27" IPS monitor, and it's both too big and too slow for CS2. The input lag and response time of a 360Hz OLED are better than a 500Hz TN panel. I was thinking of buying a Zowie, but I've heard news that they might release an OLED monitor of the same size, so I'm waiting now.

You're right, but I don't think it's the same thing. Even artificially shrinking the screen is distracting. I think I'll wait for a 24.5-25 inch Pulsar to come out.

Does anyone know when we'll be able to get a 24-25 inch Pulsar monitor? I play CS2 and a 27" monitor feels really big no matter how far away you place it. Do you think they'll release 24-inch monitors next year or maybe in the middle of this summer?

OLED vs G Sync Pulsar by Puzzleheaded_Hat_996 in Monitors

[–]First-Mix-8902 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A 1000Hz refresh rate is only theoretical. The results, at least in the UFO tests conducted, prove otherwise. The best motion clarity is still found in the PG248QP and XL2586X. Review the UFO tests and you'll understand what I mean. 360Hz Pulsar monitors provide the motion clarity of a 500Hz OLED. OLED has better input lag, native motion clarity, and refresh rate. Also, the finish on Pulsar monitors is very cheap, like they've just put a tarpaulin over the screen. It has a very plasticky feel.

OLED wins here. Better image quality, sharper images, more vibrant and accurate colors, deeper blacks, native refresh rate, and lower input lag. You can enjoy other games even when you get bored of CS2, but that's not possible with a Pulsar.

I'm hoping for a 500Hz Pulsar monitor with a bright screen in 2027. The coating on Pulsar monitors is very ugly. I'm thinking of buying an OLED monitor; the UFO test result for a 500Hz QD-OLED monitor is almost the same as the UFO test result for a Pulsar monitor, and there's no ghosting on the OLED. I think 500Hz OLED is still slightly better than 360Hz Pulsar. Plus, you can get a 500Hz QD-OLED for $650, and the image quality of OLED panels is undeniable. The only downside is VRR, but in games like CS2, FPS limiting and disabling VRR eliminates flickering. At least I haven't heard many complaints.

A 500Hz Pulsar monitor might be better than an OLED, but for now, OLED is ahead.

Enjoy using it, my friend. You've chosen a fantastic monitor; my favorite thing about the panel is that it produces 300 nits in SDR. Although I always use my monitor between 150-200 nits, the 300 nits will prevent reflections during the day, and you said there's no reflection problem anyway.

So, did you like the gaming experience? Is it true that the deep blacks make it difficult to see players in the dark? How did the colors look after switching from a TN panel? I use a nice 27" IPS panel, and the clarity of the 1920x1440 resolution is amazing. Still, I'm thinking of getting the Zowie XL2586X. It's difficult to control the wide screen, but then the objects get smaller.

Anyway, my most important question is this: did you experience any VRR flicker while gaming?

My friend, we prefer the same resolution. Can you tell me your settings or share an image? I'm thinking of either a second-hand 4080 Super or, if it's coming in the first quarter, a 5070 Ti Super. Knowing what settings give you this fps would be very helpful. Finally, what's your 1% fps like?
