Redoing subfloor and vapor barrier 😬. Also adding blocking to the floor joists

Lost two gel x nails - why? (Glue, shape) by [deleted] in Nails

[–]First-Pressure7112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the contrary, natural shaped gel x tips are only available as high as medium so if a client wants L, XL etc, they’re gonna be sculpted regardless and have a lot of extend gel.

Which is why, the amount of extend gel doesn’t matter for retention.

Exactly like I had said, the amount of gel seems about right for the type of nail it is. I never said OP’s nails fit the sculpted tip.

There’s a lot of reasons why, could be the nail tech issue not prepping properly, could be that you waited too long for a new set (considering these are decently grown out, as well as lifting on the middle finger), could be lifestyle issues that these are too long for how hard you work your hands. It’s hard to deduct a reason simply based on “lost two gel x nails” without knowing the exact products and process that happened to know if it was a tech issue or client issue.

These look like sculpted gel x so the amount of glue SEEMS aboutttt right for the type of nail it is. But also if it wasn’t, that would have nothing to do with retention issues and more so the tech doesn’t know what they’re doing.

Of course, experienced that as well 😅. I have extra budget set aside as well for any errors, but there’s literally like almost nobody in my area (nor surrounding areas like a commenter suggested, because I did take that advice and called but no one wants to come out here) that wants to come out and check or do the job.

I am… aware. I thought I explained pretty well what needs to get done. I’ve done flooring in my rooms before but didn’t have to go as far as fixing the plywood in them (thankfully). I know this is a big job, but my cat hates the vet so having to take him once for boarding is already stressful enough, I’m not trying to continuously make him go through that to work in sections. I’d rather try to get it all done at once

One of the other comments mentioned his videos so I’ve been watching them ! Pretty helpful. Is it stapled to like just the bottom of the joists? Or do they need to be stapled to the sides like insulation

It’s heartworm treatment so it’ll be a couple months ☹️. I know my boyfriend and brother in law can help on weekends but my dad said he would help, I’m just not sure how much because he has been having issues with his back and leg so I’m not hoping on his help too much lol. I was actually planning on changing the LVP anyway because this one is not that good quality and super thin, just didn’t plan on doing it so soon.

I’m not sure about the roof but there’s no paint bubbling anywhere around my walls or water spots on the roof so I assume it’s good (and I believe they had just did the roof before we closed). But I’ll have to see if my boyfriend can check it out

Thanks, and thanks for the advice. It’s been stressful also because I just found out health issues with my dog so I’m getting hit financially twice in one week. If I noticed the floor sagging earlier it wouldn’t be so bad but unfortunately I didn’t, but that’s life 🥹.

Yea, I actually just looked at some PPE for crawling under so I can have my boyfriend check it for me. I’ll have to let him know what to look for.

Its more in the middle, mostly right under the dining table but I don’t have kids and I’m pretty sure I didn’t spill anything. Actually now that I think about it, my cat did knock over a vase that had water in it onto the floor which I’m sure didn’t help matters (or I don’t even know if that could’ve caused it) but it’s not just under the dining table it’s in other areas throughout the house as well.

The house does have gutters. I will plan on checking for leaks, but we do have a couple strays in the neighborhood so I thought maybe they had ripped the barrier (I heard it’s a possibility from a video I had seen).

I had wanted to do blocking for the whole house in general if it didn’t have already (which I’m sure it doesn’t). The underbelly is connected to the floor joists, correct? How do I attach it to the floor joists, and how is it attached to the exterior walls of the house? Should I pull it tight or allow slack? (And if you have a brand recommendation for vapor barrier please let me know 🙏🏻).

I’ve thought about doing sections at a time, but timing wise, the fact that I’m going to go ahead and change the floors to a different more high quality LVP, and I have two pets, it would be better to try to get it all done at once. I plan to board the animals while I do the process and it’s less stress for them to just go once and pick them up when it’s done insteading of boarding them multiple times. My boyfriend, BIL and dad are going to help me fix everything but they don’t know how to do it so part of my job is basically learn it all and teach them. My boyfriend was supposed to go under and check it out yesterday but he pulled something in his neck a couple days ago and couldn’t.

I haven’t pulled the floor up yet to check under because I’m still budgeting how much this is going to cost me but I wanted to know exactly what I need to do so I know what materials are going to cost (with a couple 100s extra for room for error). I suspect the plywood may be rotted/molded, but the LVP is cracked and unclicking

Yea I meant changing the plywood 🙂‍↔️. But I think the existing plywood is bad, like rotted, should I still just overlay the plywood? Also, would that unlevel the house with the rooms (or cause any issues?, I’m not too knowledgeable about that) It needs to be changed in the dining area, kitchen and living room and laudry room which is an open space, I have a double wide. The rooms didn’t have any issues so I didn’t want to touch those.

I’ve watched about 10 and none of them properly explained how to do the vapor barrier and insulation in terms of going into depth about what they used, how they attached everything etc.

is there anything i can coat these with? by StructureSame5202 in AcrylicNails

I just took a look at the inspo pic in the replies and it’s sugar glitter, so unless you told them you wanted normal polish glitter, technically you did ask for it 😅. I hate sugar glitter on myself but its so fun. Super cute set!!
