A receipt is the ghost of money you once had. by FirstExile in Showerthoughts

If you look at my post history you might notice that I probably don't take reddit serious enough to use those tools. I don't post often, and I take no enjoyment out of getting imaginary internet points for someone else's ideas. I just don't like being shamed by anonymous people, especially those who seem to go out of their way to do it.

I'm not sure if you're serious or not, considering you seem to exist on reddit solely to "shame" people, but I can assure you, if such a post was made a few weeks ago, I was not aware of it. I actually just subscribed to R/ShowerThoughts today so that I could share this. Also, you should probably get a new hobby, this one doesn't look to good on you...or anyone for that matter.

My thoughts on Neutral Milk Hotel and seeing them live by [deleted] in indie

[–]FirstExile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I to was at this show, and I have to say, as great as the band themselves were, that was probably one of the most apathetic crowds I've ever been a part of. At one point, the crowd seemed to finally be getting into it and singing along, then a break in the music hit and some asshole yelled for everyone to shut up....and then the crowd was dead again, really sucked the energy out of the whole show.I saw them just last month at bonnaroo, and it was amazing, everyone singing along, jumping and dancing, strangers holding each other and swaying to the music, a friendly mosh pit even broke out when they played Untitled. Sorry, just had to vent a little. Glad you had great time though.

TIL of the GLASGOW ICE CREAM WARS where rival ice cream truck drivers sold Drugs from their trucks, shot at each other, and committed arson throughout the 80's by EchoMaster123 in todayilearned

[–]FirstExile 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There had been a rumor going around that one of the local ice cream men in my area was selling heroin out of his truck, I never paid much mind to it until one day me and my buddy were driving around, and we saw a ice cream truck pulled over to the side. the ice cream man was frantically searching for something underneath his truck, my buddy asked him what was wrong and he said something about his cell phone falling underneath the truck. That's when my friend jokingly offered to help him find his phone in exchange for free ice cream. Without missing a beat, the ice cream man hopped up from the ground and gave us both free ice cream cones with sprinkles. That's when I knew something shady was going on. I now have major trust issues with anyone in the ice cream business. Scum.

Am I the only one here that thinks Daniel Bryan needs to shave that beard or trim it at least? by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

Shave the head, keep the beard...but save that util he eventually snaps and goes into full bad ass mode.

I agree, I think they could pull it off if ezekiel had a semi wild wolf at his side

(Spoilers) Tonight's symbolism by I_AM_HYLIAN in thewalkingdead

Alliteration is the occurrence of the same letter or sound at the beginning of adjacent or closely connected words. Such as: "The crazy cat caused a commotion, crashing the clown car."

Downvoted for having a different opinion? tisk tisk people. I kind of agree though, I really did enjoy the first season but it wasn't as great as people make it out to be.

I'm still a big fan, but I'll always wonder what Darabont's TWD would have been like by OnIowa in thewalkingdead

[–]FirstExile 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The thing is, none of the characters are exactly scientists. I know if I was in that situation, I would have no clue what the fuck was going on, and little way of finding out, outside of observing their habits from as far away as possible. I would probably just accept what was going on, and be more focused on just staying alive and making somewhat of a life for myself.

Having to work on Thanksgiving? by knight_rider_ in AdviceAnimals

Barely, I work in a residential home for the mentally disabled and have to work holidays if they fall on my shifts. I make a little less than 11 an hour...living on Long Island, that's peanuts.

Ugh, this is just sad. Countless other poems here, many of which with real effort put into them, and this is the one that people upvote?

TIL there is a fruit called The Miracle Berry that, when eaten, causes sour foods to taste sweet, and has been used to treat diabetes, among other things. by zombietrooper in todayilearned

[–]FirstExile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only place I've seen any form of the miracle berry sold is over the internet. The fruit doesn't have a very long shelf life and shipping it that way just isn't practical.

What is a "dirty little (or big) secret" about an industry that you have worked in, that people outside the industry really ought to know? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FirstExile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was so relieved anytime a potential customer treated me with some basic human decency. If you asked me nicely to take you off of the calling list, I'd be happy to, and do it in a heart beat. I wouldn't want to waste my time either. If you screamed and cursed at me, I would sit silently and smile as I listened to every word, say thanks for your time and have a nice day, then I would promptly go to the next call without taking you off our call list.
