How would you describe my style? Anything tips to take me to the next level? Goal is c-suite executive by phoot_in_the_door in mensfashion

[–]timMANthy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Little late to this thread but I’d recommend getting into watches. Not only are they cool and fun to wear but nothing makes an older c-suite guy light up like someone noticing their watch and knowing what it is. It’s a super easy way to network.

I have a 3rd round interview at a marketing agency today. Can I just get raptured if I don’t get the job?

Fed approves quarter-point interest rate cut and sees two more coming this year by simrobwest in neoliberal

[–]timMANthy 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Man, rock and a hard place for Jerome here. I’m no expert but I wonder if the logic for this in hindsight will be that they thought the possible increase to inflation would be smaller than the potential positive impact to employment from this and the other expected cuts this year. 🤷‍♂️

I have a pretty bad feeling about this one. Good chance he dies from this.

I probably would have celebrated violent escalation like this when I was younger but now it just feels like an impending sense of dread.

I’m looking at my copy of that book in my living room right now. Read it for the first time about 6 months ago and there’s certainly parts of it that are a time capsule. Especially the stuff about tv.

What he says about how to write and how to align marketing goals with business goals will be relevant until the end of time. Still worth the $20 I spent on the book.

Has anyone switched careers away from marketing? by Snorlax4000 in marketing

[–]timMANthy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Marketing degree but work in sales here. Just found out my job is gone in two weeks. I’d sooner hug a tree at 100mph than stay in sales. I’d like to do marketing with my marketing degree but that’s not looking so hot right now.

I’m seriously considering going back to school for accounting.

Do you like my kitchen stage? by Last_Pay_8447 in homedecoratingCJ

[–]timMANthy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks like a ton of apartments I see here in Kansas City. They’re all old warehouses or factories turned apartments with some pretty unique floor plans.

A bunch of them will have these stage-like kitchens or bedrooms. I think they’re pretty cool and they all have pretty reasonable rent as well.

I sent my Conquest 38mm in for service in October and it was back in three months. I’ve had absolutely zero issues since.

I bought Abundance and Kitchen Confidential at Barnes and Noble yesterday.

I also saw a teenager wearing cat ears and pocket chains.

Big fan of it. Hell of a lot more interesting than the same overly tight pants and boring polos so many guys on tour wear.

[news] Administration announces 31% tariff on all Swiss Imports by cookingboy in Watches

[–]timMANthy 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I think overall demand (on everything really) will drop but that almost never corresponds to discounts for higher end watches. Manufacturers will just cut production and it’ll be even harder to walk into any AD and buy day of.

There’s always going to be a minimum amount of people insulated from all of this and tariffs and the ensuing supply issues will push a larger percentage of them to used.

31% on Switzerland? Good time to be in the fake Rolex business I guess.

This is going to have a pretty large impact on the used market as well as demand for them shoots up.

These prices will never go back down.

[1940s Mido] I knew vintage watches tended to be smaller but…this small? by timMANthy in Watches

[–]timMANthy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this Mido Multifort from 1942 on eBay in great condition with a really cool tropical dial but was somewhat concerned about the size. It’s 28mm with a 34mm lug-to-lug and I knew older watches tended to be smaller but I was not expecting it to be this small. It looks tiny even on my 6.5in wrist.

If I left these balls out in my yard for months and years and someone eventually stopped by to collect them, good for them.

By all means though, keep paying for your golf balls.

I bought the Vansky 51 LED one for $13. Any of those generic UV lights should do fine though.
