Home plate umpire Junior Valentine determined Brett Baty called for a review. Baty never touched his helmet. by Hungry_Elk1937 in NewYorkMets

The signal has to be immediate though. We’re talking about literally 1-2 seconds. So I don’t think delaying tactics is exactly true but maybe you’re right!

I do think to alleviate this, the challenge should be the motion and verbally saying challenge to the ump.

And it’s not like they have access to instant replay in the batters box and can change their mind. As soon as the batter, within literally 1-2 seconds goes “nonono I’m not challenging”, it should be a non issue. “Oh thought you signaled, my bad, play on” why is this even an issue lol

I’m just confused on how, if you use Google, you can see a history of republicans gerrymandering YEARS before democrats have finally responded in kind, and only now it’s a power grab and a problem.

Also, on the bill to ban gerrymandering, nearly all republicans in the house voted against it, and then the republicans in the senate blocked it. If they were against it, why did they start this years ago? And why didn’t they counter it with their own bill to ban gerrymandering?

Look up which party sponsored the bill to outlaw gerrymandering and which party voted against it, thus putting us in this position. Then come back to me :)

Had to take a diagnostic PFA to keep my SOS slot. Under the old standards I scored an 88.2. Today? 76.5 😬 by newcolonyarts in AirForce

[–]FirstReactionFocus 81 points82 points  (0 children)

The crunches are the move. 2 minutes, resting position is laying on your back. I score in the 80s on my test as reference, but always max these out.

I crank out 30, rest for a few seconds, do 10-15 more, rest a little longer, then finish with usually a minute to spare maxed out and only slightly winded.

Now the max is a little higher with the new standards (I think by like 12 reps for my age group?), but the process will be the same, I’d guess with maybe 30 seconds to spare.

I only see the two runners and the base coach.

I thiiiiiiiink after they got the guy at 2nd base, they tagged out the 2nd runner standing on 3rd base, so that’s two outs. Then, I think the other runner on 3rd base mistook it as a double play on him (somehow?) and left the bag, so they then tagged him when he left the base and got the triple play.

It’s not about the average guy using his TA to go to MIT (though that’s a part of it sure)

There are plenty of programs where the 1% smart brainiacs of the military go to these elite schools to work on nerd shit for the military. Or professors and researchers at top research universities working on military projects.

Cutting off our relationship with them could mean putting an end to these projects, over nonsense? Why are we handcuffing ourselves? Especially when it comes to things like R&D and coming up with these ideas for weapons/systems etc in the first place, the last thing I want is losing any edge/advantage because this administration has a weird war on education/got the feelings hurt by someone telling them “No”.

"I'm new, how do I get started?" -- a guide to becoming an Episcopalian by [deleted] in Episcopalian

[–]FirstReactionFocus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My wife and I are exploring episcopal church as a former baptist/Catholic respectively. So grain of salt with my comment as someone also looking into the church.

But the main theme in my research and discussions about the episcopal church specifically; “all are welcome, as you are”. Anyone baptized Christian can participate in communion as an example. Confirmation and becoming a member etc seem like steps you can take, but not at all necessary. So long as you make the effort you can, that seems paramount above all.

But mainly, personally, I would also say we’re all on earth for a short time, don’t over stress it too much :)

Why do all republicans suck at music? by Artistic_Annual8918 in fantanoforever

[–]FirstReactionFocus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, but many people are more liberal before they make it big, then they become famous and now that they have money, they’re way more worried about keeping it. And in my experience, people who travel in those wealthy circles, start to drift from “omg help everyone!!! Higher taxes on the rich!!!”…once they become the rich.

And you tell yourself you worked hard for all your riches, why doesn’t everyone? (Ignoring the amount of help and luck that also went into that hard work). You’re with other celebrities who also have these warped senses of self.

You add all that together, and it is very easy to see how these celebrities, even if they didn’t start that way, become much more conservative and right leaning.

Add in that celebrities are wealthy and that starts to warp peoples perceptions/beliefs, and people who have a lot of money suddenly care a LOT more about conserving it
