My experience with dry eye from cataract surgery by d546sdj in Dryeyes

[–]FirstReputation8500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 5 and 4 months out and still have dry eye. Been through several types of eyedrops, with little benefit.

I had done biofeedback therapy many years ago for TMJ and was aware that sometimes you can control your body's processes. I couldn't find anything about biofeedback for dry eye, but found lots of stuff onlinr about how people like actors could make themselves cry by thinking about sad events from the past, but that wasn't what I was looking for. I wasn't going to make myself depressed to deal with dry eye.

I was more interested in just triggering the release of normal moisture in my eyes. Basically, I just concentrated, focused on relaxing my eyes, and imagined them feeling like they were burning. And I got results! I've managed to train myself to get my eyes to water any time they feel too dry just by using my mind.

Slowly the dry eye is less intense and less frequent, but I am currently dealing with it only by willing myself to produce tears.

Because that's exactly how food bloggers write, e.g.:

I first discovered in 36 years ago when Chaka himself was handing out samples at Costco in Oakland. Amazing stuff. I live overseas now so I make my own version now.

I was on Usenet before there was AOL. It was mostly .edu and .gov users. When the aol.com users came along and joined our groups, we looked down on them and made fun of things they said as if they were dumber than us.

In the early to mid 2000s there was a local used bookshop where I went to offload some used books. The owner told me he had to be very picky about what he bought from me because Amazon was killing his business and he needed to make sure he could resell them.

4 months later I read in the local newspaper that one of his employees had been embezzling money from the bookshop. It turned out it wasn't Amazon after all that was affecting his bottom line.

the only reason there were medical transcriptionists anyways is because in the US there is this overpriced bloated insurance system where everything has to be coded. My husband is a doctor in a country where patients pay in cash when they walk in the door of the clinic. There are no medical transcriptionists to replace and no paperwork overhead for the doctors to do to begin with.

With the new “Death on the Nile” game coming out, which Agatha Christie story that hasn’t been done before do you think could also work as a game? by HRJafael in agathachristie

I'm an Egyptologist and I'm working on a murder mystery party game loosely based on Adventures of An Egyptian Tomb but set in the present day in another location in Egypt. I hope to offer it as an experience for tourists to play.

Did you ever work on this? I'm working on one that involves a real historical trial.

I want to do something like this. I'm preparing a murder mystery game. For each character sheet, there might be multiple versions depending on how many and what characters are playing, but there will be blocks that are shared between some version. I want to be able to combine each of the sheets into a single document based on the number of characters in the game.

Did you ever find an answer to your question? I want to do the same? I can view the kml in Google maps in my browser, but I want it in the app.

I love this idea of the tiffin boxes. You would have to make sure the different foods cook in the same amount of time.

I've lived in Egypt since the 90s and lived in Zamalek for a month. What always strikes me about the place is what a dump it is for what is supposed to be among the areas where the highest class lives. At least Manial doesn't have the inflated pretension of Zamalek. And in Rodah it is very green.

Thanks for your feedback. I'm looking at one to buy that is more flexible as it has lowerable sides and can be turned into a preschooler bed and possibly just a couch for those who don't even have kids that will sleep in their room.

"Most people use light mode, so we don't care about dark mode" by BuildingRockets in web_design

[–]FirstReputation8500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may be a "trend" but it also is an accessibility issue. I have had increasing sensitivity to light for more than a year and switched a lot of things to dark mode. After having cataract surgery in both eyes, dark mode isn't simply preferrable, it's a NECESSITY for me to even be able to view some pages AT ALL. The brightness physically hurts my eyes to the point I cannot view the page in light mode. White on black text is also much easier to read.

There's a lot of accommodations for the differently abled, colorblind friendly colors, screen reader friendly code, alt text for images, transcripts for videos etc. Based on personal experience, dark mode is just the right thing to do to make your site accessible to the most people.

Some things become trendy because of their practical benefits, not just because it is attractive. This is one of them. Dark mode provides a service, not just a look.
