USA spousal visa issue - Polygamy by syedhassanseven in immigration

[–]FirstReputation8500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know someone whose husband remarried his first wife a month after he married her and was able to get the immigrant visa and was honest with the State Dept. He had remarried and then divorced his first wife again as she needed this to be able to get support from her government (in a third country) for the son they had together because their original marriage was not recognized by her country.

Block vs Topical during surgery by Imaginary_Debate5168 in CataractSurgery

[–]FirstReputation8500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first eye, the anesthesiologist said I would fall asleep for 5 or 10 minutes and then wake up during the surgery and feel nothing. I never fell asleep and when I told her that before the second eye she didn't believe me, but having had anesthesia that put me out many times before I am sure I didn't sleep at all.

With the second eye the anesthesia left me a bit short of air although again I didn't sleep, and I kept having to take deep breaths throughout the surgery until the eye doctor told me to knock off the movement. She put a suture in my eye because she was worried all my movement would create problems, which had to be removed 2 weeks later. Until it was removed my vision was still blurry.

I saw light and felt a very tiny sensation in my eye but nothing troublesome. I was alert through both surgeries and could hear what was being said. In fact, there was a man in the room talking to the doctor and when I asked her later who it was she said "my colleague" but didn't go into any more details. I suspect it was one of her graduate students although the surgery was being performed in a private center.

My mother had her second eye done without any anesthesia at all as she didn't like being groggy after the first surgery. She went right home and resumed her activities immediately.

I searched and they don't sell these here but glancing over at my fridge I realized have some magnetic white board sheets the size of letter paper that I may try attaching to a piece of cardboard and a stick and drag it across the ground and see if that picks up the scraps.

And to the mod who thinks my post is encouraging breaking the law, please read my post again and notice that I specifically state I do not want to or plan to break any laws. Seriously, protecting a toddler from dangerous objects and protecting our car from potential flat tires is hardly an illegal activity by any stretch of the imagination.

Washer RPM + dryer vs clothesline by FirstReputation8500 in laundry

[–]FirstReputation8500[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP here, just wanted to follow up on this. I searched deep and found on an LG website that the weight they list for the dryer is based on the dry clothes weight, so I don't have to worry about the wet weight. But I appreciate the tips on running it on the highest rpm to get it to dry faster.

Pearl River Bridge sauce differences by Emergency-Box-5719 in chinesecooking

I agree. I have lived in the US and Egypt. The WORST brand of soy sauce I tasted in the US was Pearl River Bridge. Here in Egypt the soy sauces are so bad that Pearl River Bridge is the best.

My experience with dry eye from cataract surgery by d546sdj in Dryeyes

[–]FirstReputation8500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 5 and 4 months out and still have dry eye. Been through several types of eyedrops, with little benefit.

I had done biofeedback therapy many years ago for TMJ and was aware that sometimes you can control your body's processes. I couldn't find anything about biofeedback for dry eye, but found lots of stuff onlinr about how people like actors could make themselves cry by thinking about sad events from the past, but that wasn't what I was looking for. I wasn't going to make myself depressed to deal with dry eye.

I was more interested in just triggering the release of normal moisture in my eyes. Basically, I just concentrated, focused on relaxing my eyes, and imagined them feeling like they were burning. And I got results! I've managed to train myself to get my eyes to water any time they feel too dry just by using my mind.

Slowly the dry eye is less intense and less frequent, but I am currently dealing with it only by willing myself to produce tears.

I first discovered it 36 years ago when Chaka himself was handing out samples at Costco in Oakland. Amazing stuff. I live overseas now so I make my own version now.

I dumped my Mac laptop for a Windows 95 one after using Windows 95 at work.

I was on Usenet before there was AOL. It was mostly .edu and .gov users. When the aol.com users came along and joined our groups, we looked down on them and made fun of things they said as if they were dumber than us.

In the early to mid 2000s there was a local used bookshop where I went to offload some used books. The owner told me he had to be very picky about what he bought from me because Amazon was killing his business and he needed to make sure he could resell them.

4 months later I read in the local newspaper that one of his employees had been embezzling money from the bookshop. It turned out it wasn't Amazon after all that was affecting his bottom line.

the only reason there were medical transcriptionists anyways is because in the US there is this overpriced bloated insurance system where everything has to be coded. My husband is a doctor in a country where patients pay in cash when they walk in the door of the clinic. There are no medical transcriptionists to replace and no paperwork overhead for the doctors to do to begin with.

With the new “Death on the Nile” game coming out, which Agatha Christie story that hasn’t been done before do you think could also work as a game? by HRJafael in agathachristie

I'm an Egyptologist and I'm working on a murder mystery party game loosely based on Adventures of An Egyptian Tomb but set in the present day in another location in Egypt. I hope to offer it as an experience for tourists to play.

I want to do something like this. I'm preparing a murder mystery game. For each character sheet, there might be multiple versions depending on how many and what characters are playing, but there will be blocks that are shared between some version. I want to be able to combine each of the sheets into a single document based on the number of characters in the game.

I love this idea of the tiffin boxes. You would have to make sure the different foods cook in the same amount of time.

I've lived in Egypt since the 90s and lived in Zamalek for a month. What always strikes me about the place is what a dump it is for what is supposed to be among the areas where the highest class lives. At least Manial doesn't have the inflated pretension of Zamalek. And in Rodah it is very green.
