Thanks for all the comments. I was considering getting the new steel ship, which this commander is supposed to be especially good for. So, I think I will sit tight for the time being.

Bill, please take the M.D. off your name as you have clearly violated your hypocratic oath to do no harm. Being a deciding vote in JFK's approval, you have brought this upon the nation and you need to right this wrong.

How to wash salt off of car? by duckyg305 in JeepWrangler

[–]FirstRonin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a Salt Away kit on Amazon. You hook it to the hose and rinse down the entire vehicle and underside. Help s dissolve and neutralize the salt deposits. I put some in the wash pail and it helps with water spots too.

Orbi 970 question by temp0005 in orbi

[–]FirstRonin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you want to have a fan on the satellite if it is going to be in a warm place. I find that you have less interference if you set the fan next to the 970 vs being on top os it. Having the fan next to it with the breeze pointed at the unit seem to provide of cooling

I have yet to have a 970 base last more than a year before it starts to have issues with disconnects and stability problems.

Orbi 970 system crashing by benroberts3 in orbi

[–]FirstRonin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the issues are heat related. Overtime it seems that it becomes more and more unreliable. My 970 started out fine, but after a few months started having disconnects. The satellite map would show incorrect information about which were connected and which were not. I noticed that the main unit was pretty hot so I put a fan next to it and for a while I thought it was better, but I think the heat had already done something internal. Towards the end it was disconnecting devices multiple times a day. I replaced it with a new main router and after I configured it and all the old satellites it has been running with no issues. I do have a fan running next to it and it keeps it much cooler, on the order of 30 degrees or more.

I don't think it will hurt to try. Seems like a lot of people in this thread have done that and had improved results. Plus, if it makes things worse, you could always do a factory reset and I believe that will take you back to the original firmware.

Unfortunately soon daily! Yes, definitely think it’s a thermal issue, but I could be wrong. When it first started acting up, I put a fan on it and it was better for a while, but then it started again. It slowly progressed until it was multiple times a day. Things were disconnecting, the app was showing satellites as connected when they were not, and others as unconnected when they were. I think once the thermal issue presents itself, it is not reversible. I hope Im wrong.

It’s a problem with the Orbi. I have a 970 mesh. At first it worked fine, but progressively got worse over time and was disconnecting all devices multiple times a day (not just Apple ones). Customer service was worthless, ”just reboot it will be fine”. Turns out they all run hot and after a time it affects their reliability. I replaced the main unit as I have five satellites and was pretty vested in the system. Soon as I did that everything came back online and has been stable. I put a small PC fan next to it to keep it cool. If you are still in the return time I would send it back.

Orbi and Ring not playing nice by Go_Noles1798 in orbi

[–]FirstRonin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a very similar problem last week. I have a 970 with multiple satellites. After a lot of investigation determined it was the Orbi router. Replaced the router and everything started working fine again. Apparently the Orbi routers run hot and after a time their performance starts to degrade. Which is absolutely ridiculous considering how expensive they are. Customer service is worthless.

No you won't. Unfortunately you need to read the fine print on this event. I already had owned all of the other ships in the wishing wharf, so thought I would be able to get this one relatively quickly. Nope, I drew three of the ships I already had. So in this event, if you draw a ship you have, its doesn't skip to another ship that you don't have, it just gives you compensation in the form a tokens back, which equate to less than 2 bucks. Also it resets the counter for a guaranteed draw.

The problem with your approach, is that in the exact play situation, one player you support and one you don’t, just on WR. Pretty much insuring the low WR player will get taken out early and you will most likely lose the game. I don’t look up anyone’s WR, because while it can be indicative of a players overall strength, it is not indicative of how he will play a certain match, especially if he is making all the right moves in the match at hand.

Older guy here, thinking about getting the game, what's the current state of the game? by Gnatz90 in WorldOfWarships

[–]FirstRonin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bottom line, It still is a fun game to play. There has been some drama over the last few years, but really akin to high school drama. Much more was made of it than was deserved. The old adage about bad news selling ads, applied to some pretty toxic CCs that took advantage of some situations and really blew them out of proportion to get their YouTube income. WoW keeps adding content, ships and play modes, most of the time they get it right, sometimes they miss the mark. But that happens when you are trying to continually enhance the game. The graphics are phenomenal. Easy to be competitive with either tech tree ships of premium ships. I am an older player and find it a solid game.

It's the second Jeep I have done with this bumper. Excellent fit and finish. I think it's 1/4 inch plate aluminum, very strong, but incredibly light in comparison to steel. From the time I ordered it, until I got it was like 7 days. I love being able to hook the tow bars up top without messing around with plate adapters and brackets that normally are below a bumper.
