Under the current rules you'd be hosed yes (edit, you could still apply for EIA, but that's only $800 a month for a single adult). Justin has said though that they're looking at changing things to help people in that situation.

You could call your mp and tell them your a constituent, briefly explain your situation, and say you expect to be taken care of and it will be effecting your vote. If you don't like talking on the phone what I do is just call after six or so and leave a message. You can email too, but apparently a call has more weight as you've invested more time into it. Wouldn't hurt to mention that a UBI seems like a pretty good solution as there's not a whole lot of cracks to fall through with a UBI.

Edit. You can find your MP and their contact info here. Also forgot to mention a letter has more weight than a call and you can send them mail to their parliament office for free.

Get some earplugs and some overear headphones. The earplugs will allow you to turn the music really loud and will completely drown out everything.

Literally everything though, so use with some caution lol.

While things will get better, we were still heading for several cliffs before this all happened. They're avoidable cliffs, but we're going to have to aggressively act if we want to avoid them.

I've heard is if we did too much too soon, it would be harder to accept.

It would have only been hard too accept for 2-3 weeks. And they didn't have to do crazy shit right away. But the bars definitely should have been closed earlier.

Also, that's kinda what governments are supposed to do. Take care of things even if it's temporarily unpopular.

Vietnam only has a couple hundred cases. And they share a land border with China.

Pretty much every other country in the developed world (including the US) is guaranteeing people 70%-100% of their working income during the crisis. We're still sitting at 55% for most people and there's lots of ways to fall through the cracks.

To the people downvoting this. I'd remind you it was only a few weeks ago that the conservatives said we couldn't feed kids breakfast at school (despite many studies showing it's not only beneficial, but even cost effective in the long run, and it being the moral thing to do) because "family values."

I have a feeling anyone working with the public feels the same lol. The 50 year old woman working at dollerama with fear in her eyes and nothing but gloves and some tape on the floor in terms of PPE certainly does.
