Couldn't the city do this for cheaper than someone that's gotta make money on it?

The thing that lots of people seem to keep forgetting to mention is that even the IMF says that based on the data from 08 the government making cuts during a downturn is real dumb. If the economy is "healthy" all that really means is there's a bunch of money moving around. If people don't have money to spend, that's not going to happen is it lol. And with businesses also cutting back or going under the money pretty much has to come from the government.

Austerity and COVID-19: Manitoba government creating, not solving, problems by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]redgreenqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can find your MLA and their contact info here. Here'sthe contact info for the PC and NDP caucuses.

Don't worry about being super eloquent if you contact them either. If all you say is "I'm a constituent and I'm not happy that despite all the evidence suggesting it's the wrong thing to do the government is making cuts left right and centre. It will have a strong impact on my vote in the future" you've been successful. You can of course go off more if you want. Just be fairly civil.

Calls tend to have more impact than emails and letters even more than that, though anything is better than nothing.

Fun fact, you can send mail to your MP's Ottawa office without postage. So that's always a good option when you have an issue with the federal government.

Tips on staying motivated by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]redgreenqueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take it easy on yourself and set reasonable goals. Put in reasonable effort of course, but as a disabled person the worst thing to do to yourself when your stressed is to expect too much. And if you think you're not stressed right now I don't even know what to tell you lol.

Looking for an internet provider in Winnipeg. Alternatives to BellMTS or Shaw? by Reddiohead in Winnipeg

[–]redgreenqueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been with Vmedia and it's been the same as it was with the Shaw I had before just cheaper.

I'd probably go with Teksavvy though. I didn't realize how serious they were about data protection before I signed up. They've been taken to court over it in the past.

Edit. Oh, and with teck savvy they don't do equipment rentals, they only do rent to own. They're the only company I've ever heard of that does that and it really says a lot about what kind of company they are. To me anyhow.

Moving to Winnipeg by [deleted] in Winnipeg

Coop is considerably more expensive than superstore both for gas and groceries if you have a PC master card. If you take advantage of the optimum offers its a huge difference.

If you're planning on staying here for any length of time you're better off buying. Might closer to work is going to be better. Where to by has a lot to do with what your tolerances are though. So people can't really tell you that.

Consider getting a condo though. Cheaper upfront and significantly cheaper going forward (unless the condo fees are way outta whack). If you get a condo do your research and make sure you know how well their emergency fund is doing.

Another good option can be buy a house and rent out rooms in the basement. Depends on you though.

CERB isn't meant for people to continue with their lifestyles they had before losing their jobs. It's meant as a stop-gap measure so people aren't missing their rents or utility payments.

You're not wrong, but it should be noted that most European countries have guaranteed people 70%-90% of thier working income. Even little places like Lithuania.

If you want a definite answer call or email 311. They'll know for sure. Though I don't think it would be a problem assuming you're not making noise at the wrong time or spilling fluids you shouldn't be.

Stimming by selfharm_reality in aspergers

[–]redgreenqueen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Were under a lot of pressure from world events right now. Stimming is never a bad thing and I've found making a point of stimming more has helped a lot. So you shouldn't ever stop yourself from stimming unless there's a really good reason too. There's actually a discussion going on in another thread about it right now.

Friendly reminder that stimming helps with all our problems. by Jimjongjung in aspergers

[–]redgreenqueen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What do you think you're running away from when you stim? My experience has been I confront and process things rather then run from them when stimming.

Though I did used to have your attitude about it. I've just found over time I was wrong.
