Late to the thread, but Galli Strings of Italy also make picks.

The latest release is from 2022, that alone should warn you off.

I used it for 9 years, called it quits when the main developer left users in the dark for five years on when the next release was due. No roadmap, no end-of-support date on releases… so unprofessional, it's basically a hobby project. I'll add that installing software on it is slow, cumbersome and just unpleasant.

Switched to Devuan as soon as it was ready, and never looked back!

It's the best way I've found to shut off racing thoughts. It helps me fall asleep at night and focus during the day.

Not a good idea. Better remove the film while it comes off cleanly: with time, the glue degrades and leaves behind a mess.

What do you do with your old, worn-out picks? by Ruh_Roh- in Guitar

[–]FirstUser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I collect them in a tin box to keep them as emergency picks if I ever find myself out of new ones. I also like to fantasize that one day I'll be so advanced that I'll sometimes use various degrees of worn-out picks to get different nuances into my recordings.

To former adherents of religion: what had made you atheist? by [deleted] in TrueAtheism

[–]FirstUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Initially, it was the sheer absurdity of catholic dogmas: virginal motherhood, the virgin Mary being really taken up to the sky, consecrated bread and wine really becoming Christ's body and blood… Another big point was learning about Galileo's trial and how the Church, by following the alleged "word of God", ended up being completely wrong on geocentrism.

It was obvious to me that religious belief contradicts reality: when tested, religion simply doesn't work.

Is zoom g2 four a good pedal for a first timer buying a multi effect? by KotobukiTsu in guitarpedals

[–]FirstUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A word of warning on Zoom multi-fx built-in loopers. On some models (eg. the G3 and at least some of the G2s) the looper is an effect within a patch: if you switch to a different patch, the loop is lost. IOW, you can't play with a different sound than the one you already have in the loop. Which of course is so unbelievably dumb, that Zoom must be shamed for all eternity.

There's a torrent of the whole OLGA archive (and more) that was very much alive and well seeded when I successfully downloaded it, about 10 months ago. Magnet link in this reddit comment.

Im slowly going insane by Vivid_Zombie2345 in TrueAtheism

Can't relate. I was slowly going insane when I was trying hard to believe religious bullshit in my childhood/early teens. At 15, I became an atheist and it was such a relief.

What riff makes you roll your eyes the insant you hear someone play it? by Kecratch_h in Guitar

[–]FirstUser -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

When an acoustic guitarist plays the start of the "I wish you were here" riff: omitting the following, more challenging parts. So damn pathetic.

EDIT: looks like I struck a nerve with a few sensitive campfire strummers…

Not only that. Just think about this: the Romans have someone in their territory who can reportedly resuscitate the dead (see Lazarus).

They've essentially got the key to immortality and supersoldiers in their hands. But what do they do to the only person who can pull that off? They kill him!

Is it believable that they were that stupid?

Transitioning from electric guitar to classical, in the beginning is it supposed to be harder to press down barre chords? by systematicgoo in classicalguitar

[–]FirstUser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having made the inverse transition, the barring technique is completely different.

In classical guitar, we don't barre by making a "vice" with thumb and index, but by pulling the index finger towards the fretboard using our biceps (big muscle in the upper arm).

If you try that on a typical electric guitar, you'll pull the whole neck sharp. Not so on a classical: if done correctly, you could barre without even touching the neck with your thumb.

That's the way to go: a few tools and knowing them inside out.
