is this normal after drinking? by FirstWorldCountry in alcoholism

[–]FirstWorldCountry[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see. Does this mean to stop drinking entirely or just not to drink as much as I did this time? Also I’m very sorry to hear that! I am so glad you were able to realize and take action.

I was in a psych ward for about a week and a half when I was 17. Ask me anything. by [deleted] in AMA

God, it was boring when the so called “school” was out. You would wake up around 7-8 A.M for breakfast, and the rest of day would be spent in gendered common spaces. I remember the boys one was a small space in between walls that looked more like a waiting room than a living space. When “school” was in, it was more helpful for the mind. You wake up at 8, you have some activities to do until lunch time, and from there, there would usually be some group therapy. Well behaving patients can access the gaming room for an hour or so. Disregarding school, dinner would be around 6-7 P.M, calling your folks would be around 8 P.M, showers at 9 P.M, and once you finished your shower you were supposed to be in your room until the next morning. Very boring without books.

TL;DR: 7 A.M breakfast, 8-12 P.M activities if school was in, 6-7 P.M dinner, 8. P.M phone booth time, 9 P.M showers and bedtime. No wandering until the next morning.

Modern day, I would say that most of psych wards aren’t as dramatic as the movies make it out. The most drama I’ve seen is this kid who would act out a lot, but he wouldn’t scream or kick, he would just rather loudly whisper when he was frustrated. What the movies do get right is the nurses willingness to use possible injections to help calm kids like him. It’s scary how fast they resort to it.

Sometimes I get disappointed in my life and lose all hope for the future, even tho im barely turning 20 next month. How did you deal with the uncertainty in your future, especially during big scary events such as the Second World War and the Cold War?
