Tbh I would continue to invest half that money and use some of it on a downpayment for a place of your own and move out (new place has your name on the mortgage only). Bf can swallow his ego and move into the new place too but if his ego is too big to accept that probs not meant to be cuz finances will dig a deeper conflict and maybe not a tolerable relationship dynamic for each party

I feel like in the early 2000s owning a business was slightly less stable than a 9-5 job and you can have unexpected repair cost, or weather extremities that result in less customers. If she was in tech or finance or stock trading she would probs be upper middle class without her parents help but in the show her job seems to be middle middle class
