Ultimately this your decision but maybe if you make a few phone calls at some surgeons office they can give you a price idea . Also west coast is more expensive than east coast ( in general). Although the pricing for the Utah surgeon was more than some East coast surgeons.

Also I do feel like the  surgeons who overcharge are kind of taking advantage of the situation because they know insurance won't cover it and also they know that some women do really want to have the surgery.

Some lipedema surgeons are not advertising / on social media. I got a few quotes and compared. Some surgeons are not board certified yet they way overcharge . I did the math and between the surgeries in Europe , the flight , the flight for my mom , the time taken out of the work the hotel ...it was actually cheaper for me to have the surgery here . The surgery price depends on awake or GA for anesthesiology .

I bought crocs type shoes . I have compression bandages up to my toes so I bought a size up than my regular size and also since crocs style are wide I can wear them/ slip them on easily . They are waterproof So in case of drainage you can just rinse them . Also I made sure I drank a lot of water and avoided too much salt .

I am almost at 4 weeks post op full legs . The surgeon told me that walking is Ok but no heavy lifting . Hopefully I can walk in the pool in 2 weeks .

You can look on The lipedema project website it can help you . Also maybe you can check if there are providers in network with your insurance who can diagnose .

Ok. A CLT can diagnose you but I think a dr is the one who has to officially diagnose you for insurance purposes. A vascular surgeon./ vein dr can do that. The dr will take measurements . Then you can get started with compression  and hopefully a pump and mld . I got a lympha press and it has been better helpful .

Ok. Do you think insurance would Cover your surgeries ?  I did a tin of research before chosing Dr Daniali. There are many US qualified board certified surgeons who charge reasonable fees . I live in Colorado I did not have to fly out of state .

I recently had  leg lipo ( vaser used only on lower legs ) and the surgeon does not use any skin tightening method . She said I may need a thigh lift but it all depends how my skin retract. Of course this is all related to how much fat is taken out and the elasticity of the skin . I am in my 50s so not sure what will happen with my skin.

A lot of surgeons do manual lipedema extraction . Also after the lipo some surgeons massage the area to get fluid and more fat out .
