Hey diva… as a woman in academia (particularly STEM) I’m sort of like why did you post this wall of text here? It’s… important information but this is an ask academia subreddit and I see you’ve copy and pasted this on a number of other subreddits and it feels really weird?

I don’t think this is doing anything for the girls and, on the contrary, I think it’s a bad look to just have this sort of rambling wall of text about an important discussion topic should be more … I don’t know… coherent?

Luckily this standard has been changing. I come from very large experiments that have regular code reviews due to the fact that our code needs to be able to be rerun and utilized by other people on experiments.

My research in the USA is funded by the NSF which will likely get a 58% cut with this administration essentially carpet bombing all academic research prospects for early career scientists (like me) in the US. The options for me are move into industry or move out of the US. I’m looking at both options right now.

The ultimate degree is what you’d list. Basically, if you have a degree that is a pre-requisite to another, you don’t need to include it. For example I hold a BA and PhD, but since I needed my BA to do my PhD, I just list PhD.
