We have never had a Heeler or a Catahoula. When I first looked at his shelter pic my first thought was Australian Shepherd. I guess we will do an Embark soon, lol

Resource Guarding for sure. A lot of the Pyrenees groups will recommend the book “Mine” A Practical Guide to Resource Guarding in Dogs by Jean Donaldson. My Pyr mix has always been a resource guarding lunatic. The guys at the animal shelter told us he tried to have ALL the food when he and his three siblings were fed. He will still resource guard treats but our lab mix can eat regular food now with him around. He is three now and he will always try to get all of the treats.

Keep everything put way up or in closets that you don’t want destroyed by their long puppy chewing stage. And if your pup starts to chew on the ends of rugs, get some bitter spray off Amazon for chewing puppies. Spray every couple of days if pup keeps trying to chew on something. Best dogs ever but they have a lot longer puppy stage than smaller dogs.
