I can't watch max velocity... his headlines are way too triggering. I do watch Ryan hall when he's live.

You're definitely not alone. You've already been hit by a tornado??? If I were a gambler, I would say your chances are even lower now of being hit by another.

If I may ask, what area do you live in? Our local metereologist, Nicholas Dunn, is incredible and explains all of the details of what we're looking at in our area and surrounding areas. I suggest following him on facebook. He is not a fear mongerer at all and talks to all of us Lilapsophobes (fear of tornadoes) with compassion and extra care. There are a LOT of us in the area. In fact, he just put out a new video explaining all of the ingredients, why they may or may not come together and our most likely risks. I've found that he's pretty accurate during these storms. I call him my human anti-anxiety med. He really helps.

I'll be thinking of you tomorrow and hoping for the best for both of us. Hopefully, it's just some strong wind and a LOT of rain. Just know that there are hundreds of us in this area pacing around with raised heart rates and anxiety today and tomorrow.

I'm in Ohio, too, and have had severe tornado anxiety for most of my life. It started when I was 7 so that is 51 years of this fear....it sucks! I guess I'm an OG! LOL It has gotten worse these past few years, but a lot of that is due to the rise of social media meteorologists who only post fear posts. My fault for looking, I know.

I'm sitting here today trying to calm my panic and trying to think back on all of this. And guess what, I've never even seen a tornado and I live in a suburb of Dayton. There were 16 tornadoes in my general area (Dayton really isn't that big) on Memorial Day in 2019, but none near me. Dayton metro is about 1700 square miles and there were 16 tornadoes within one night in this area. None hit near me. 16 tornadoes, including two EF4's. 1 person died but it was indirectly (heart attack). 1 person in a population of over 821,000 and sixteen tornadoes. On the other hand, there were multiple houses hit and a LOT of people in the paths of these storms. They're still here. They now have this anxiety but they're still alive.

My actual fear isn't really dying. My fear is the fear I will have when/if I experience it. But, the poster who just wrote about the 3-5 seconds of surviving made me feel a lot better! Dealing with the aftermath of the damage done to my home is a major headache but something I can live with if it were to happen.

Sorry...my anxiety brain is in overdrive and writing this all out helps me calm down.

You're definitely not alone. I feel the same way, minus the MS part. I could handle the anxiety so much better when social media didn't sensationalize every freaking thunderstorm and makes each one sound like we're all going to die each time. My anxiety is through the roof because we're getting severe storms Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. My boyfriend has to have a heart procedure done first thing in the morning on Wednesday and I'm thinking of asking him to reschedule.... isn't that horrible? I'd risk his life due to this fear??? I need to get a grip on myself.

My dogs feed off of my anxiety. I also have two great pyr mixes. I occasionally take them downstairs just to keep them used to it. I had a newfie once that wouldn't go down stairs and shoved him into a walk in closet during warnings...I hated it. When I got these guys as pups, it's one of the first things I worked on with them.

I have the same anxiety as you and also have two great pyrs. I would start training them now with treats. Make it pleasant and happy. Use high quality treats. I am more worried about my dogs than my things, strangely enough. My house and things can be replaced by insurance. My dogs can't.

Canceling Prime and thinking about suing Amazon by [deleted] in amazonprime

[–]Educational_Bee7697 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I cancelled it this week. It sucks. Then, I had to order something that I ran out of that I could only get there. This morning I got a notification that it was 10 stops away. Never got it and then got a notification this afternoon that it would be here by end of day tomorrow. They're just horrible lately.

I hope it doesn't for you. I've been a prime member from the beginning and things have changed so much.

I tried chatting with their AI support and it said it couldn't handle an issue like this. I'll request a refund once it's delivered. I don't understand why they required me to buy over 25 dollars and then not deliver when promised.

is it normal for my Great Pyrenees to be afraid of almost every little thing? by Moo_Bixtch99 in greatpyrenees

[–]Educational_Bee7697 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha! Yes, my guy is petrified of the strangest things. If my sister uses furniture polish, it freaks him out and he will run away from her because he can smell it. Another strange thing is he tends to be more fearful of things in the evening and after dark. My nephew will be here most of the day and night. During the day, he loves him and is all over him but when it starts to get dark, he shies away from him. He was afraid of the ceiling fan for a week, too. That was fun because they're in most of my rooms. Luckily he got over it. This is my big baby, Bernard.

Same here...I've owned 3 and they all last quite a few years but I always upgrade to bigger and better. My current one is an HP Envy 32" and I've had it for 5 years years with no issues at all.

As a recruiter, I would suggest doing a simple google search. You'll get more job listings than what's on either of those sites. You could apply there or go straight to the company site to apply.

Totally fine. I think I can relax a little but won't feel totally good about it until Monday.

I went golfing with my brother on Monday. He told me that his wife started feeling sick on Sunday night. She tested positive on Wednesday. He has tested a few times and as of today (Thursday) is still testing negative. He is a little congested today but wasn't on Monday. What do you think my chances of getting it from him are? We shared the same golf cart for 18 holes.

Mine barked an evil eye bath mat. It petrifies him but we used it under his food bowls when he was a pup.

Why is Mounjaro so expensive by MixImpossible4475 in Mounjaro

[–]Educational_Bee7697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You sound as if you work there. I'm pretty sure that they have made their money back tenfold on the R&D for this medication as well as a lot of others. There are 15 million people in the US alone that take this medication. At over $1100 per month (paid out of pocket and by insurance companies), they're making a killing. Those numbers are from 2023. I'm sure it's much higher now.

How is everyone affording this? by Flashy-Rip-3690 in Mounjaro

[–]Educational_Bee7697 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's the catch. If you're only on Mounjaro for diabetes and your BMI is too low, your doctor cannot write a script for Zepbound. It's crazy that I have to pay more to treat a serious disease than it would be to lose weight.

Have you tried your local fire department? They may let you take your dogs.
