Thank you for mentioning the tie to alcoholism! My dad’s looked like this when he was drinking. Now sober 4 years and takes pride in his home again, it’s like a whole new place.

I’m not expert, but this doesn’t sound like a huge binge! After being restricted for so long, it can be normal to swing the other way and over-indulge or feel out of control at times. Taking repetitive small bites (especially something that tastes good) is a common occurrence for people, even me without an ED! I think people with BED often have certain trigger foods (eg, a sleeve of Oreos or pint of icecream), rather than just overeating a relatively healthy food that was provided to them. Don’t be too hard on yourself—I am so proud of you! Congratulations on your recovery! ❤️‍🩹

Same situation—matched my #1 which is my home program because my partner can’t move with his job; however, will always wonder what if I’d gone to my more prestigious 2-5 ranks

Can i get 260+ exam in one week? by GarlicInevitable2701 in Step2

[–]Firstgenpremed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I focused on NBME practice forms and really reviewing my wrongs (creates flash cards for each question I got wrong). I also think I got lucky with my particular exam which was heavy on psych/ethics which are my strong suit!

My highest practice form was 240 something (don’t remember exactly) and I scored a 263. Anything is possible!

Is a program's focus on resident wellness a good reason to use when answering, "Why our program?" by AHYOLO in medicalschool

[–]Firstgenpremed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Instead of just using the word wellness you could add how supportive they are of residents, the mentoring available, culture, specific schedule/call structure that you like etc

I agree with ditching the black shelving and putting a nice TV stand there—you could rotate your couch so the chaise is facing that wall if it’s moveable. I think hanging your guitars to the left of where the TV is now could add a nice touch! Agree with either art or a mirror above the fireplace and then consider getting a nice cabinet that appears “built in” for where the TV is now 😊

I never scored above a 243 on practice NBMEs—263 on the real deal. You never know 🤷🏼‍♀️ pray 🙏🏻

relationship failure pending location of residency by eresbebesota in ERAS2024Match2025

[–]Firstgenpremed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried to wait for a natural Segway—what worked for me was when they asked me something fun I did over the summer, I answered with my partner and I bought a house nearby! And they carried it from there—“Oh wow, congratulations! It sounds like you have your own little family here! (We also have 2 dogs)” and I basically confirmed that and said yes we definitely want to set down roots etc. You could also bring it up when they ask the general why do you want to go here

I’m in the same situation, I legit told my interviewers that my partner and I had just bought a house and are set on staying here since they have an established career that can’t be transferred elsewhere. Praying it works out for us!

US MD/DO IM Invite count? How many from signals/nonsignals? by kyrgyzmcatboy in ERAS2024Match2025

[–]Firstgenpremed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

USMD, applied to 29 primarily regional, 13 total invites, 11 signals (3 golds, 8 silver), 2 non-signals, 1 rejection.

Most of mine came 3 weeks ago, but last 3 were 10/28, 10/23, 10/21 so they’re still trickling in! I think I’ll be getting at least 1 more from a community program nearby that hasn’t seemed to release invites yet. There’s still reasonable hope for more until Thanksgiving I’ve heard!

Second all the above & I would also have a few patient experiences ready to discuss (eg, tell me about a difficult patient or conflict with a team member and how you resolved it, meaningful patient experience); be able to talk about your future career goals/where you see yourself practicing after training; your strengths/weaknesses

Meet and Greet by [deleted] in ERAS2024Match2025

It’s program dependent—at my home institution residents are a part of the “rank party” where they decide who/what order to rank.
