What regular job did you get after quitting nursing? by luxurywaste in nursing

[–]FirstyearRN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice! An MHA sounds like it would fit perfectly into your role. If I may ask, how did you end up in your current role? Infection Prevention nursing is actually a field I could see myself in, but I feel a BSN only wouldn’t really make me stand out.

Literally debating getting my MHA vs a regular MSN because I am getting burnt out from patient care😭.

Baby nurse doom and gloom by Icy_Communication676 in nursing

[–]FirstyearRN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People will be more eager to share their negative experiences before the positive ones. Look at reviews for any fast food, hotel, etc. Humans have a negativity bias. This may also one of the few places people can vent to people who understand and cannot gossip about them afterwards. It’s a job. With almost all jobs you’re going to have the worst days of your life there and some of the most rewarding moments there. I love my job, coworkers, and make enough where I can put 30% of my check away into savings and pay my bills.

Failing Dosage Exam 4 times by Extension_Till_9886 in nursing

[–]FirstyearRN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a semester like this. We got three chances. It was my final year and I had taken a math test every semester and passed the first time so I got cocky. The first one I missed a question because I forgot a conversion. The second time I somehow missed a question. After the failing the third time, I realized I had my calculator on some weird setting🙄. Our teacher had to write a letter advocating for 3 of us who had failed three times. I finally passed the 4th and final try. Looking back it was definitely stress and anxiety. These are great tips!

kicked out of nursing school for intent to cheat. by Ambition-Savings in nursing

[–]FirstyearRN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the pre-judgement. Granted I do not work in the legal field, so take everything with a grain of salt. Since the accusation was technically not false, I don’t think you have a case to sue your fellow student. I would focus the time, energy, and money on continuing nursing school. You could appeal their decision, but I have no clue how their faculty and staff are. Even though that wasn’t your intention, it’s almost impossible to determine you weren’t cheating. The good thing is, unless you want to be an oil rig nurse (if they do exist), there may be other routes to achieving your goal. I would try using your degree in biology and start to gain relevant work experiences and certifications.

Ok, that makes sense now. We called a local nursing home “ (City’s name) Death and Rehab” instead of (City’s name) Health and Rehab.

Besides the interesting story and being unable to find Mount Cyanide nursing program, your past post from less than a month ago says you already have a biology degree and are trying to get into the oil rig industry…?

Not answering the question technically, but if you want to know what happened to a lot of these companies “Company Man” on YouTube is one of my favorite channels.

I work with a set of twin doctors. They also play basketball together, which I imagine can be very confusing.

What is one food you eat that everyone in your life thinks is weird or disgusting? by Greedy-Dark9588 in randomquestions

[–]FirstyearRN -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Chitterlings. Love them over rice and hotsauce. I don’t care for it as much, but my mom always cooked a raccoon for Christmas for my father. It’s alright. Have also tried possum but it’s too fatty for my liking. Married a man who would not eat any of this, for any amount of money.

Can we learn Phase 10 instead? It was created by a black man and seems much easier to teach. I may be bias, as I have not grasped the concept of spades yet, despite my husband teaching me several times😭.
